Safety Signs Categories
There are three basic sign categories used in the
workplace:
• Regulatory
• Warning
• Information
1. Regulatory
A circle indicates that an order is in force
Prohibition Mandatory
• forbids an action • Requires an action
• Red and Black on white • White on Black
2. Warning
A triangle indicates caution or danger
Caution
Danger
• Indicates a potential hazard
• Indicates a definite hazard
• Black on yellow
• White on red
3. Information
A square indicates information
Emergency
General Information
• Indicates first aid, health, fire
• Indicates permission or
protection, fire fighting and
public information
emergency equipment
• White on blue
• White on green
