Simple Present x Present Continuous x Simple Past


• SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
• Quando usa: rotinas, hábitos ou “verdades universais” (advérbios de frequência:
Always, usually, often, generally, sometimes, never/// once, twice, three times,
four times a week, a month, a year///on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays,
Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays///every day, week, month, Friday).
• I love chocolate.
Verb to be:
I am (not)
He/she/it is (not/isn’t)
You/we/they are (not/aren’t)

Am I...?
Is he/she/it...?
Are we/you/they...?
To (-ar; -er; -ir) = verbos no infinitivo são acompanhados de “to”. Para conjungar “basta” retirar o
“to” do verbo para todas as pessoas com exceção de HE, SHE e IT.

To love = amar
I love hamburger. = Eu amo hamburguer.

Conjugação dos verbos nas 3ªs pessoas do singular: acrescentar: -S; -ES; -IES.

She loves hamburguer.
He works every day. (to work)
It plays with some toys in the mornings. (to play)

-ES: -x (to fix); -z (to buzz); -sh (to wash); -ch (to watch); -o (to do)
I fix computers. -> He fixes computers.
My sisters do their homeworks every night. -> My sister does her homework every night.
• -IES: verbos que terminam em consoante + –Y. Por exemplo: To hurry

• I always hurry to catch the bus.  She always hurries to catch the bus.
• My parents sometimes study English at night.  My mom sometimes studies English
at night.

• FRASES NA NEGATIVA
• -> do not /don’t
• -> does not/doesn’t + verbo principal no infinitivo sem o “to“
PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
Quando usa: para falar de ações que estão acontecendo no momento em que se fala.
verbo to be + verbo principal in the ing (verbo principal que indica qual ação está sendo realizada)

I am speaking in English now. (to speak)


She is taking a picture with her cellphone at this moment. (to take)

Covid-19 cases are increasing in São Paulo. (to increase)


They are increasing in São Paulo.

The covid-19 situation in São Paulo is getting better. (to get).

The covid-19 situation in São Paulo is not getting worse. (to get)
• SIMPLE PAST TENSE
• Quando usa: para falar de situações completas no passado. É necessário
indicar QUANDO aconteceu sempre (yesterday; last night (week, month,
year...); the day before yesterday; XXX days (weeks, months, years) ago; a
long time ago  geralmente os advérbios de tempo no passado são usados
no final de frases.

• I, he, she, it: was


• You, we, they: were

• There was/were = existência de alguma coisa (ou pessoa), em algum lugar.


• Regular verbs: -d/-ed/-ied • To study: studied
• To play: played • To try: tried
• To enjoy: enjoyed Irregular verbs:
• To learn: learned To see: saw
• To pass: passed To give: gave
To make: made
• To love: loved To do: did
• To share: shared

• To hurry: hurried
• Negativas:
• did not/didn’t + verbo principal no infinitivo sem o “to“
• Did= utilizado em todas as pessoas (I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they)
