1 CORINTHIANS 10:1-5
PAGBABALIK TANAW
A. Paalaala- Paul expressed it at the
tail-end of 1 Cor. 9:27 ”lest I be cast away”
meaning, disapproved.
B. Paul begin his discourse of a personal
note to his audience, the Corinthian
believers. He specifies their privileges.
1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye
should be ignorant, how that all our fathers
were under the cloud, and all passed
through the sea;
1 Sapagka't hindi ko ibig mga kapatid, na di
ninyo maalaman, na ang ating mga
magulang ay nangapasa ilalim ng alapaap,
at ang lahat ay nagsitawid sa dagat;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the
cloud and in the sea;
2 At lahat ay nangabautismuhan kay Moises sa
alapaap at sa dagat;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
3 At lahat ay nagsikain ng isang pagkain ding
ayon sa espiritu;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink:
for they drank of that spiritual Rock that
followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
4 At lahat ay nagsiinom ng isang inumin ding
ayon sa espiritu; sapagka't nagsiinom sa
batong ayon sa espiritu na sumunod sa
kanila: at ang batong yaon ay si Cristo.
5 But with many of them God was not well
pleased: for they were overthrown in the
wilderness.
5 Bagaman ang karamihan sa kanila ay hindi
nakalugod sa Dios; sapagka't sila'y ibinuwal sa
ilang.

“Our fathers were under the cloud”. When the Jews Journey
through the wilderness they had no compass, guidepost
along the way
a.) They had special guidance
(Exodus 13:21-22/ Psalms 105:39)
b.)We as church do not need the visible presence of God
in order to walk by faith. We have the Holy Spirit and the
written Word of God to guide us (John 14:16-18) (John 17:17)
Exodus 13:21-22
21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to
lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light;
to go by day and night:
21 At ang Panginoon ay nangunguna sa kanila sa araw, sa isang
haliging ulap, upang patnubayan sila sa daan; at sa gabi, ay sa isang
haliging apoy, upang tanglawan sila; upang sila'y makapaglakad sa
araw at sa gabi.
22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of
fire by night, from before the people.
22 Ang haliging ulap sa araw at ang haliging apoy sa gabi ay hindi
humihiwalay sa harapan ng bayan.
Psalms 105:39
39 He spread a cloud for a covering; and
fire to give light in the night.
39 Kaniyang inilatag ang ulap na
pinakakubong; at apoy upang magbigay
liwanag sa gabi,
John 14:16-18
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he

may abide with you for ever;
16At ako'y dadalangin sa Ama, at kayo'y bibigyan niya ng ibang Mangaaliw,
upang siyang suma inyo magpakailan man,
17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth
him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you,
and shall be in you.
17 Sa makatuwid baga'y ang Espiritu ng katotohanan: na hindi matatanggap
ng sanglibutan; sapagka't hindi nito siya nakikita, ni nakikilala man siya:
siya'y nakikilala ninyo; sapagka't siya'y tumatahan sa inyo, at sasa inyo.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
18 Hindi ko kayo iiwang magisa: ako'y paririto sa inyo.
John 17:17
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy
word is truth.
17 Pakabanalin mo sila sa katotohanan: ang
salita mo'y katotohanan.

All passed the sea (V.1)
a) This is the Flashback of Israel crossing the Red sea
(Exodus 14)
b) Paul applies this Spiritually in (V.2)
(Hebrews 11:29) It is Christ who take us out of the
Egyptian bondage and darkness of this world. He leads
across the sea.
Hebrews 11:29
29 By faith they passed through the Red sea
as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying
to do were drowned.
29 Sa pananampalataya'y nagsipagdaan sila
sa gitna ng Dagat na Mapula na gaya ng sa
lupang tuyo: na nang subuking gawin ito ng
mga taga Egipto ay pawang nangalunod.

Paul speaks of eating and drinking (V.4)
a) The emphasis of the context is the super natural
sustenance the Israelites were privileged to enjoy

b) Christ is our sufficiency 2 Corinthans 3:5/John 6:38
John 6:32
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but
my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
32 Sinabi nga sa kanila ni Jesus, Katotohanan,
katotohanang sinasabi ko sa inyo, Hindi si Moises ang
nagbigay sa inyo ng tinapay na galing sa langit; kundi
ang aking Ama ang nagbibigay sa inyo ng tunay na
tinapay na galing sa langit.
2 Corinthians 3:5
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think
any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is
of God;
5 Hindi sa kami ay sapat na sa aming sarili,
upang isiping ang anoman ay mula sa ganang
aming sarili; kundi ang aming kasapatan ay mula
sa Dios
John 6:38
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine
own will, but the will of him that sent me.
38 Sapagka't bumaba akong mula sa langit, hindi
upang gawin ko ang aking sariling kalooban,
kundi ang kalooban ng nagsugo sa akin.
Conclusion:
Jews- What a privileged and blessed people. But many of them were unwilling
to exercise self control, holiness and love for their benefactor (V.5)
Christians today- very vulnerable to options. If we don’t have right
priority, we make wrong choices. The good for the better ; The better for
the best.
Vulnerable- Easyly hurt/harm physically, mentally or emotionally
-Open to attack or damage
-Capable of being physically or emotionally wounded
Option- right to choose
