Anne Roe
Born on 1904 and raised up in Denver, Colarando
She is the eldest from the 3 siblings.
responsible for helping to raise her two younger siblings in addition to
performing household duties from a young age.
She continued to care for and support her family throughout her
education
Educational :
a) Bachelor of Educational Psychology (1923), University Denver.
b) Psychology and Education Master’s (1925), University Denver.
c) Ph . D (1933), Columbia University
1938, Roe married her long-time friend and renowned paleontologist
George Gaylord Simpson
She was a step mom for 4 childeren.
Roe joined her husband in 1959 in Boston where he had taken a
teaching position at Harvard University.
Roe suffered from heart disease and periodic bouts of brucellosis.
passed away in 1991 at the age of 86.
Receives numerous award:
a) Lifetime Career Award from the National Vocational Guidance
Association in 1967.
b) Leona Tyler award from the Clinical Psychology Division of the
American Psychological Association (APA) in 1984.
Published book in 1953 , The making of scientist.

Choice
Early childhood experiences influence their career choice.
The manner in which parents interact with the child is
major influence on the motivational intensity of the child.
The child make the role and behavior of their parents as a
real model.

Roe has contributed thoughts on the selection of work. This
theory change the way the counsellor and client, namely; be
seeing the importance of knowing the early family dynamics
when performing career counselling.
Counsellor can use the elements in Anne Roe theory that need
to be identified to determine their interests, talents, and
personality.
WEAKNESS
The theory originated in humans and not in the fact
that the main objective.
This factor is differences with another culture.
There is no valid research because it does not show
how theory is applied.
There is no direct relationship between the choice of
a career with parenting style.
