area, ensure to get the correct permit
from your foreman before entering or
starting any work in that area.

Lock-out and Tag-out.
 Lock-out and Tag-out is
intended to provide a
controlled method for
rendering inactive any
electrical equipment or
operating systems (including
mechanical or piped) when
equipment is down for any
reason, to be worked on.
Lock-out and Tag-out.

 Danger Tags and Locks shall be

used, to prohibit the operation of
a valve, switch or piece of
equipment, when injury or
damage could result from the
operation.
 To maintain a“ZERO” STATE OF
ENERGY.!!!

operate a valve or switch, to
which a lock and danger tag
are attached, or removes, or
attempts to remove a lock
and danger tag, without
authorization, will be

Harnesses
 Over 1.8 m. (height or depth), you
must wear and use Fall Protection - a
Safety Harness with double Lanyard
 At fall exposures, the Lanyard must be
securely tied off at all times
 You must inspect your Safety Harness
for defects; each day, before you use it
Safety Harness and Lanyard -
 Hooked up at all times over 1.8 m.
 Hooked up to solid, permanent structure
 Hook up ABOVE shoulder height, and
above yourself - As far as possible
 Harnesses and Lanyards are to be
inspected quarterly and a register of
these inspections maintained.

• TOOLS MUST ALWAYS BE IN A GOOD WORKING
CONDITION
• ANY DAMAGED OR FAULTY EQUIPMENT MUST BE
REMOVED FROM SITE IMMEDIATELY.
• ONLY COMPETENT, TRAINED AND APPOINTED PERSONS
SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO USE POWER TOOLS SUCH AS
DRILLS, ANGLE GRINDERS AND POWER SAWS.
• NEVER USE ANGLE GRINDERS WITHOUT THE PROPER
DOUBLE EYE PROTECTION.
• A COMPETENT PERSON HAS TO INSPECT ALL
ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT QUATERLY
• ONLY UQALIFIED PERSONNEL WILL CARRY OUT
REPAIRS ON ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT.

 Skid free footing.
 Tied at the point of contact / supported by
an additional person.
 1:4 Pitch and 900 mm. Beyond contact
point.
 Both hands / one rung at a time.
 No tools or materials in your hands.

 Use a ladder of sufficient length for the job.
 Do not stand, sit or work off the last two
rungs of a ladder.
 No extension ladder should extend it’s full
length, it should overlap at least four rungs.
 Stepladders are to be opened fully and
locked into position.
