REMEMBER

A problem is something that causes trouble for the

character in a story or sentence.
 The solution is how that character solves, or fixes the
problem.
 Problem-Solution uses signal words like because, one part
of, as a result, consequently, this led to, if…then, remedy,
thus, due to and one step of the solution is…. ,in order to
solve, to solve this problem.
Read the paragraph below and see how
signal words are applied.

 Astronauts face many problems in space caused by weightlessness. One of these

problems is floating around the cabin. To solve this problem, astronauts wear shoes that
are coated with a special adhesive. This adhesive sticks to the floor of the cabin. Serving
food is another problem. It won't stay put on the table! Experts solved this problem by
putting food and drinks in pouches and tubes. It only needs to be mixed with water.
Weightlessness also causes problems when an astronaut tries to work. The simple task of
turning a wrench or a doorknob can be difficult. Since there is no gravity to keep him
down, when he exerts a force in one direction, the opposite force may flip him over
completely. To solve this problem, he must be very careful about how much force he uses
to do these simple tasks. Here on earth, life is much simpler, thanks to gravity.

 There are certain things which students can do if they suffer from exam anxiety. To
begin with, they should get a good night‘s sleep the day before the exam. If they
sleep well, they will be able to concentrate and do well in the exam . If not, this will
cause more stress and anxiety. The second effective solution is to change their poor
study habits. If they start to study one day before the exam, this will cause worry and
stress. However, if they change such habits and start to study regularly, this will give
them confidence before and during the exam. The last thing they should do is to
think positive. When they think positive, they will get rid of all their fears and worries.
For example, visualizing themselves as a student who has a high mark before the
exam can make them feel better. In summary, getting a good night‘s sleep,
changing their poor study habits and thinking positive are effective solutions to deal
with exam anxiety.

Problem-solving strategies in space, such as adapting to weightlessness by using special adhesives or modifying food packaging, reflect creative and practical approaches that can inspire solving Earth-based problems that require innovation. For instance, optimizing resources or adapting environments to human needs in challenging conditions demonstrates the potential cross-application of such solutions .

Combining sleep, improved study habits, and positive thinking effectively addresses exam anxiety by tackling multiple facets such as mental readiness, preparedness, and emotional stability. This approach reveals that addressing multi-faceted problems often requires integrated solutions that attend to both physiological and psychological needs .

A common household issue like uneven floor heating can be addressed by borrowing principles from space problem-solving, such as using modular, adhesive-backed thermal pads that can be arranged as needed. These pads mimic the adhesive approach used by astronauts and allow customizable heating solutions without permanent installations or electrical work .

Getting a good night's sleep helps overcome exam anxiety by improving concentration, thereby enhancing exam performance. If students do not implement this solution, it could lead to increased stress and anxiety, impairing their ability to perform well in exams .

Regular study habits reduce exam anxiety by building a systematic approach to learning, thus increasing familiarity and confidence with material studied. Long-term benefits include enhanced knowledge retention, better time management, and reduced stress, which collectively improve academic outcomes and personal development .

Signal words such as 'because', 'as a result', 'consequently', 'due to', 'in order to', and 'to solve this problem' are used to identify problems and solutions in a text. These words help indicate the cause-and-effect relationship required in a problem-solution structure by linking the issue to the subsequent solution or consequence .

The floating problem illustrates weightlessness challenges where astronauts cannot stay stationary within their environment. Creative solutions include wearing shoes with special adhesive soles to stick to the cabin floor and carefully controlling force when performing tasks to prevent unintended movements .

Astronauts face several problems such as weightlessness-related floating, food handling, and the force exertion during tasks. These are uniquely addressed by technological innovations like adhesive-soled shoes, food packaging in pouches and tubes, and training in force management, signifying a sophisticated interplay between technology and human adaptation to non-Earth environments .

Learning problem-solving through everyday scenarios, such as using an umbrella when it rains or getting a flat tire repaired, helps students develop practical critical thinking skills and prepares them to handle real-life issues effectively. It fosters creativity, adaptability, and the ability to think strategically .

Positive thinking helps alleviate exam anxiety by reducing fears and worries and fostering a visualized success scenario that boosts student confidence. This psychological approach can improve students' future performance by ingraining a positive mindset and reducing the negative impact of stress on their academic endeavors .
