Understanding the Present Simple Tense

The simple present tense is used to describe habitual or repeated actions that occur frequently but make no reference to whether they are happening at the present time. It is used for general truths, scheduled events, and instructions. To form the simple present tense, for first person subjects "I", "you", "we", and "they" the infinitive form of the verb is used, and for third person subjects "he", "she", and "it" an "s" is added to the end of the verb. Examples are given of verbs conjugated in the simple present tense.
