Setting up the IRIS
MultiView™ setup Wizard
will load an IRIS default
setup for a 12 mm turbine
and 1 inch tube.
Modify this setup for the
current tube to inspect.
Ultrasonic Settings
To display the UT
adjustment menu,
double-click on the
Ultrasound.
The UT setup mode will
show up. In this mode,
life A-scans are
continuously displayed.
The operator makes all the
adjusment in this mode.

Inspection method:
WT/immersion for

Enter: tube OD, WT.
Select correct water
velocity and material

Target
To set target gate:
1. Identify target
echo on A-scan
2. Bring cursors on
both side
3. Click on Set

Enable IRIS gate

Adjust gain 1, gain 2, DAC blank in order to detect
the frontwall and the backwall echoes.
Gain1: frontwall
Gain 2: backwall
DAC Blank: delay
before Gain 2 switch on.

B-scan Zoom
The B-scan may be
zoomed.
Bring the mouse
pointer on the B-scan.
Click and drag the
green mesh.
Release to zoom.
Turbine speed
Adjust the water
pressure so the
turbine speed is
between 40 and 60
revolution/second.
Saving data
Stop recording.
Click here to manually
save data
Select directory and
type filename

Auto recording
To record a
complete tube, Swith to Inspection
turn on Auto mode

directly to disk).
Type tube number and start
recording.
Amount of data display
The amount of data
displayed is controlled
by the X-axis scan
size. It means the
number of line
(revolution) displayed.
1000 lines/m of tube is
a good guest to display
an entire tube.
N.B. Windows limit the available RAM. Use the auto recording to
store a complete tube.

Statistics
Statistics are computed on
the data display in the C-
scan. Zooming on a defect
will compute data on the
defective area.
Double-click on WT min
to bring the cursors at the
first location with this
value.
Report Option
If the ECT/RFT report option is used (key code required), the depth of
the defect at the crossing of the red cursors will be calculated as follow:
ratio of wall thickness measured divided by nominal wall thickness time
100%.
To input a defect: right click in the C-scan, click on ADD CODE, select
the code. It is necessary to define a defect code in the Analysis Setup.
