 Introduction:
 Abul Pakir Jainulabbdin Abdul Kalam.
 The Missile Man Of India who also
became the President of India was
born in Rameshwaram,Tamilnadu.
 Being a scientist of high repute
Dr Kalam was also a poet and an
avoid art lover.
 He was conferred numerous awards
including Padma Bhushan and Bharat
Ratna.
 Dr Kalam had tremendous faith in the

 Dr Kalam describes two things in “Work
Brings Solace“
 The first is Wernher von Braun,
the scientist who made the lethal
V-2 missile that devastated London
in World War 2.
 Dr Kalam also quoted remarks
about America.
 The second thing that is stressed is
–“Total surrender to work gives immense
pleasure and satisfaction“ .
Wernher von braun’s influence :
•As tribute to Wernher’s genius he was
given top position in rocketry programme
at NASA.
•Von Braun produced the landmark Jupiter
missile while working for the US Army.
•Von Braun impressed Dr Kalam with his
humble,receptive and encouraging quality.
•He told Kalam that he should remember
that one doesn’t just build on successes
but also on failures. Mere hardwark
cannot fetch you honour.
Total surrender to work:
•Kalam pushed a hold button in his life no
family,no relations , no holidays ,not even
friends outside the SLV circle. He wanted to
put all his dedication in his work.
•He tells :“The desire to work at optimum
capacity leaves hardly any room for anything
else”;
•He quoted :”Total commitments is the
common denominator among all successful
