Create an Overall Look Choose Readable Fonts – As a general rule, never use more than
two different fonts. Too many fonts look amateurish. As much as
◦ readable fonts and type sizes you may be tempted, avoid fancy but difficult-to-read fonts.
You are better off choosing common type faces such as Arial or
◦ suitable colors Times New Roman rather than fancy fonts such as Algerian or
◦ appropriate templates Brush Script. Also remember the following:

◦ appropriate graphics AVOID TEXT SET IN ALL CAPITALS. NOT ONLY DOES
IT TAKE MORE SPACE, BUT IT TAKES MORE TIME TO
◦ appropriate sounds READ THAT TEXT SET IN LOWERCASE. IN ADDITION
TO BEING MORE DIFFICULT TO READ, CAPITAL
LETTERS MAY BE INTERPRETED AS “SHOUTING” AT
YOUR AUDIENCE RATHER THAN AS EMPHASIZING
AN IMPORTANT WORD OR POINT.

Build Sequentially

- use “progressive disclosure” when appropriate

Handling your communication aids
