Field Review Method in Performance Appraisal

The field review method involves an outsider from the corporate or HR department evaluating an employee's performance records and conducting interviews with the employee and their direct supervisor. It provides comparable performance information across different units or locations. Key advantages include eliminating bias from the rater and aiding managerial promotions. Key disadvantages are the outsider lacks familiarity with the employee's work environment and actual behaviors, making accurate observations difficult.
