Understanding Humility in Relationships

Humility involves having a low view of one's own importance and prioritizing the needs and interests of others above one's own. The document references Matthew 20:28, where Jesus said he "did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many," demonstrating ultimate humility. It also quotes Philippians 2:1-4, where Paul encourages believers to have the same humble, selfless mindset as Christ by valuing others above oneself and looking to the interests of others rather than only one's own interests.

Humility

Low view of one’s own importance

“just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to His life a
ransom for many” Matthew 20:28
Have you had an argument with friends &
family?
• Did you both apologize?
• Can it be forgiven?
• Are you thinking of your self only?
Identify Humility
• Are you confused and not know what humility means?
• Here is what Paul said about imitating Christ on humility:
“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any
common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-
minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not
looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Philippians 2:1-4
