Research Proposal
A research proposal is an argument for the
proposed study.
It need to explain the logic behind the
proposed study, rather than described or
summarized the study.
The forms and procedures for academic
research are well defined by the field of
study, so guidelines for research proposals
are generally more exacting than less
formal project proposals.
Research proposals contain extensive
literature reviews and must offer
convincing support of need for the
research study being proposed
1
Research Proposal
The main purpose of a research proposal is to show that the problem you propose to
investigate is significant enough to warrant the investigation, the method you plan to
use is suitable and feasible, and the results are likely to prove fruitful and will make an
original contribution
The objective in writing a proposal is to describe what you will do, why it should be
done, how you will do it and what you expect will result
Being clear about these things from the beginning will help you complete your thesis
in a timely fashion
Vague, weak or fuzzy (unclear) proposal can lead to a long, painful, and often
unsuccessful thesis writing exercise
Clean, well thought-out, proposal forms the backbone for the thesis itself
A good thesis proposal hinges on a good idea
Proposals help you estimate the size of a thesis project.

Types of Research Proposal
1. Academic Research Proposal
For the fulfillment of academic degree i.e.
Masters, M. Phil, PHD or Post graduate degree
submitted to University
2. Scientific Research Proposal
For non academic purpose, for specific
research work submitted to relevant senior
department/ministry/ university/ government.
3. Project (Study Research) Proposal
For required study framed by any institution/
organization as per TOR

Evaluation Research Proposals
The evaluation team should understand the research problem and
objectives.
The team should have some expert or known person about the
research.
The team should develop fair and independent criteria to evaluate
the research proposals
The team should study each proposal and compare the
methodology with same criteria.
The team should develop comparison chart to compare financial,
technical capability , time frame as well as other required
parameters as per evaluation criteria.
The team should compare and make analysis whether there is
logical end and justification between the objectives and expected
outcomes. 8
