What is CSR?
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a
concept that encourages organizations to
consider the interests of society by taking
responsibility for the impact of the
organization's activities on customers,
employees, shareholders, communities and
the environment in all aspects of its
operations.

ITC has been 'Carbon Positive' three years in
a row (sequestering/storing twice the amount
of CO2 than the Company emits).
'Water Positive' six years in a row (creating
three times more Rainwater Harvesting
potential than ITC's net consumption).

Close to 100% solid waste recycling.
ITC's Social and Farm Forestry initiative has greened
over 80,000 hectares creating an estimated 35 million
person days of employment among th
disadvantaged.
ITC's Watershed Development Initiative brings
precious water to nearly 35,000 hectares of dry lands
and moisture stressed areas.

Water Positive Corporation
Its water positive strategy was based
on four principles –
• sustainability of water sources,
• benchmarked specific water consumption for
progressive reduction,
• zero ‘waste water’ discharge and
• creating ‘positive footprint’ through
rainwater harvesting (RWH).

The company conserved energy and
opted for massive aforestation.

Social performance of a company can be measured by :
1. Community involvement: Community residents are
challenged daily to make decisions about what exposures may
be harmful to their health. What are they doing about it?
2. Environmental aspect : What have they done?
3. Employees: How do they take care of them?
4. Suppliers association: Do their suppliers have CSR
policy?
5. Customers: Do they create and sustain customer’s
satisfaction?
