Case Study: LGBTQ Youth Mental Health

Dewayne is a 22-year-old gay, white male college student who is experiencing bouts of depression and stress. He has identified strengths such as having a strong sense of self, being socially engaged, and advocating for the LGBTQ community, but limitations including a lack of self-care and a shaky support system. The social worker proposes having Dewayne journal or paint whenever feelings of depression or stress occur over the next 2-3 weeks to strengthen his support system and engage in more self-care.
