1. Considering the type, size, layout, no. of blocks
of the proposed building and thoroughly
studying all the spaces provided, a realistic
figure of power requirement (incorporating a
safe % for future growth in power demand)
should be worked out.
2. Main control panel / distribution boards should
be conveniently located on the exterior wall,
stair hall walls / landing space, passage /
corridors as well as easy accessibility in case of
fire.

3. Separate circuits to be developed for lighting (5
10 amps) and power (10 20 amps)
requirements and the entire load evenly
distributed on all the circuits.
4. Prepare a comprehensive list of all the symbols
/ legends / abbreviations used on the electrical
layout drawing.
5. Using correct symbols mark the location of all
the lighting fixtures wall / ceiling mounted,
type required, no. as well as the location of
corresponding switches / switch boards, power
outlets (5 amps & 15 amps) on the plans in each
space.

6. Min. 40 60 watts lamp to be provided for
every 100 sq. ft. floor area at max. 10 ft height.
7. Min. one ceiling fan 48 dia. for floor areas 100
150 sq. ft. at max. 10 ft height.
8. Min. one 12 18 dia. exhaust fan to be
provided in all kitchens, toilets / bath, laundry,
store etc. (with proper size wall opening and
electrical outlet).
9. All exterior lighting fixtures, electrical outlets
and switchboards must be waterproof.
