Understanding Nonviolent Communication

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a method of communication that meets both parties' needs in a compassionate way. It transforms potential conflicts into peaceful dialogues by teaching us to listen empathetically and communicate feelings and needs in a way that connects people soul to soul. The primary purpose of NVC is to connect with others in a way that enables compassionate giving from the heart by guiding us to consciously respond based on our perceptions, feelings and wants using four components: observations, feelings, needs, and requests.

Non violent communication

When you`re busy judging

people,
You have no time to love
them.
What people say about
Nonviolent Communication
(Compassionate Communication)
NVC is a powerful
methodology for
communication in a way
that meets both parties
needs.
It brings a more loving,
compassionate, and
nonviolent way of
understanding and
functioning with others.
NVC is a powerful tool for
peace, it helps liberate us from
ancient patterns of violence,
transforming potential conflicts
into peaceful dialogues. It
shows us how to teach peace,
exploring the connection
between language and
violence.
NVC shows us how to listen
emphatically and also
communicate our authentic
feelings and needs. NVC
connects soul to soul,
creating a lot of healing.
PURPOSE OF NVC

The primary purpose of Nonviolent

Communication is to connect with
other people in a way that enables
giving to take place: compassionate
giving. It`s compassionate in that
our giving comes willingly from the
heart.
NVC guides us in reframing
how we express ourselves and
hear others. Instead of being
habitual, automatic reactions,
our words become conscious
responses based firmly on an
awareness of what we are
perceiving, feeling and wanting.
Four components of NVC:

THE NVC PROCESS

observing that are affecting our
well-being

2. How we feel in relation to what

we are observing
3. The needs, values, desires,
etc. that are creating our
feelings

4. The concrete action we

request in order to enrich our
lives
Two parts of NVC

Part of the NVC is to express these four

pieces of information very clearly. The
other aspect of these communication
consists of receiving these same four
pieces of information from others .

1. Expressing honesty through the four

components
2. Receiving emphatically through the
four components
OBSERVING WITHOUT
EVALUATING

You can observe a lot just by

watching.
