Stereotypes
In our short film we plan to incorporate some specific stereotypes as it
will help the film to be more relatable to the younger audience, who we
predict will cover the majority of viewers.

Karinas character is portrayed as emotionally vulnerable as is common


with the stereotypical portrayal of teenage girls in films, and
specifically Romances. Her decision to create a fantasy world so she
doesnt have to deal with her reality is an idea thats been recreated
time and time again with female characters, and Karinas state of
denial is no exception.

Haydens character does to an extend portray the stereotypical


teenager boy as being distant in a relationship. However, under the
circumstances of our film, this distance created is only physical due to
his character being dead. Despite this, Karinas memory of him is as a
loving boyfriend, and this is the part of his personality that manifests
into the imaginary version of him.

Titanic
The 1997 classic Titanic gave us a lot of inspiration for the film,
as it also portrays a young couple in love who are changed
forever by tragedy. There are quite a lot of similarities, most
notably how the deaths of the male protagonists cause a
deterioration of sorts. While the character of Rose doesnt create
a fantasy world in the way Karina does, she often dreamed of her
union with Jack, which was her way of remembering him and
keeping him in her heart. Our main reason for taking so much
inspiration from the film is that it has a well-known storyline, and
most audience members, both young and old, will be able to
relate to the film as a result.

A2 Productions
We also took some inspiration from the A2 Romantic Drama Life
is a Journey, which catalogues the journey of a couple from their
first meeting to their current struggle. We wanted to particularly
capture the playful love that the couple in Life is a Journey felt
for each other, as we felt it was very natural and believable to an
audience.
