Data Processing and Analysis Guide

Pervasive computing refers to the trend of increasingly ubiquitous connected computing devices present everywhere. These small, inexpensive devices are embedded in everyday objects and communicate wirelessly through interconnected networks without direct human intervention. This allows for scenarios where environmental conditions are continuously and imperceptibly adjusted based on biometric sensors or refrigerators aware of their contents to plan customized menus. While pervasive computing enables new possibilities, it also presents risks around device errors, security, privacy, and unknown issues. Overall, pervasive computing provides an attractive vision of the future where technology exceeds expectations but careful consideration of limitations is still needed.

Introduction
Pervasive computing is the trend towards
increasingly ubiquitous connected computing
devices in the environment, a trend being
brought about by a convergence of advanced
electronic and particularly, technologies and the
Internet.

Pervasive computing devices are not personal

computers as we tend to think of them, but very
tiny even invisible devices, either mobile or
embedded in almost any type of object
imaginable, including cars, tools, appliances,
clothing and various consumer goods, all
communicating through increasingly
interconnected networks.
Is There A Difference Between
Traditional & Pervasive Computing?
The difference lies in how they connect.

These connections are fundamentally unlike

those we associate with networks. Rather than

using the network to connect computers that
are being used directly by people, these
appliances communicate over networks such
that people do not directly monitor the
communication between machines and
programs. The majority of these
communications will occur in an end-to-end
structure that does not include a human at any
point.
Unlike Traditional Desktop Computers and existing

networks, the new devices will have the following

characteristics:

§ Many will have small, inexpensive processors with

limited memory and little or no persistent storage

§ They will connect to other computing elements without

the direct intervention of users.
§
§ Often, they will be connected by wireless networks.
§
§ They will change rapidly, sometimes by being mobile,
sometimes by going on and offline at widely varying
rates. Over time, they will be replaced or fail far
more rapidly than is now common.
§
§ They will be used as a source of information, often
sending that information into the centre of the
network to which they are attached.

How Do They Connect With
Each Other?
They Connect Using
 Internet Networks
 Wi-Fi
 LAN
 VAN
 Bluetooth

 Mobile Networks

 GPS

Advantages Of Pervasive Computing
 Higher & Simpler Technology
 The Sixth Sense, ect,.

 Improved Life Style

 The Way People Live Will Change

 Improved Performance
 Highly Effective
 Work Is Completed Much Faster And Thus More Work Done

 Highly Efficient
 Minimum Utilization Of Resources

Advantages Of Pervasive Computing
 Higher Profitability @ Much Lower & Affordable
Cost
 High ROI
 Environment Friendly
 Decentralisation

 Diversification

 Connectivity

 …
Applications Of Pervasive computing:
 Vehicles
 Mobile Phones

 Handhelds

 Household Appliances

 Smart Machines

 Wearable Computers

…
But It Does Not End Here !
Because, every coin has 2 sides, not 1
Limitations
Where There Is Scope For Infinite Possibilities,
There Is Also Scope For Errors And Failures.
The Possible Risks Associated Are
 Error In The Device

 Failure

 Security & Privacy

 More Undefined & Unknown Loop-holes

Conclusion
 We are heading toward a reality that plays like
a scene from Star Trek. Pervasive computing
provides an attractive vision for the future of
computing.
 Well, we no longer will be sitting down in front
of a PC to get access to information, instead
we use wireless media to access those
things.
 As a machine its work is to fulfil the Man's
need, but Pervasive Computing technology
not only fulfils needs, but exceeds/surpasses
expectations.
