Overview of the STCW Code Standards

The STCW Code contains uniform competence standards for seafarers. It has two main parts: Part A lays out the mandatory knowledge, understanding, and proficiency standards for tasks on ships. Part B provides recommendatory guidelines. The main feature is the Table of Competence which details the functions, tasks, duties, and required competence levels of shipboard personnel. feature of the Code. The table contains
the various functions of the shipboard
