under one category called Store Operations.


A large department store may have a complete staff

consisting of a manager, assistant manager and sales associates for its Sporting Goods department, Home and Garden, Bed and Bath, and each additional department.

In U.S. the density of retail is the greatest and large

concentration of retail firm. US retail firms are large enough to operate their own warehouses. They sell through large stores with over 20,000 sqr ft. In Japan small stores operated by relatively small firms and large independent wholesale industry. Merchandise often might pass through three distributors between the manufacturer and retailer. Employment is more in retail in Japan as compared to U.S. European distribution system falls in between the U.S. and Japanese. Northern Europe is more like US style whereas South part is of Japanese style small family owned retailers.

destination. Indian retail sector accounts for 22% of the country's GDP by 2012. It contributes to 8% of total employment. Hypermarkets, currently accounting for 14% of mall space. Max number of small family businesses utilizing household labour. Majority of retail enterprises use less than three hired workers.

To define the store's organization, start by specifying all tasks that need to be performed. 2. Then divide those responsibilities among various individuals or channels. 3. Group and classify each task into a job with a title and description. 4. The final step is to develop an organizational chart.
