After completing secondary school, students have many career options available to them. The National Defence Academy of India is a joint services academy that trains cadets for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Careers after Senior Secondary Education

After completing senior secondary education students often find themselves at the cross roads.

Most of the school leavers find themselves devoid of adequate information and, more often than not, land up in a career for which they have no aptitude and repent throughout their life for having made a wrong choice In many cases the parents or the guardians are also not fully conversant with the opportunities available after schooling. This presentation aims at enumerating various opportunities which are available to the students after 10+2.

The National Defence Academy of India located in Khadakwasla, Pune, is a joint services academy where cadets of the three wings Army, Navy and Air Force are trained together before they go for there pre-commission training to their respective academies.

Eligibility Criteria
XII Class / Equivalent passed certificate conducted by State Board / Universities. Candidate appearing for above examination can also apply. Unmarried male candidates only

Age between 16 1/2 to 19 years


Nationality - A candidate must be either:

A citizen of India, or
A subject of Bhutan, or A subject of Nepal, or

A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India

Selection Procedure
The process of selecting cadets for the National Defence Academy is split into three phases :
A written examination held by the Union Public Service Commission. An interview by the Service Selection Board to assess a candidate's officer potentialities ( Intelligence and personality test ).

A medical examination by a Service Medical Board

Scheme of the Examination


The subjects of the written examination, the time allowed and the maximum marks allotted to each subject are as follows : Subject Mathematics General Ability Code Duration Max Marks 01 2 1/2 hours 300 02 2 1/2 hours 600 900

The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only. the question papers (Test Booklets) will be set in English only.

Syllabus for Entrance Examination


Paper I - Mathematics : (Maximum Marks 300)

(Arithmetic, Mensuration, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics).

Paper II

- General Ability

Part A - English (Maximum Marks 200)

Part B - General Knowledge (Maximum Marks 400)
