Disk Operating System

(DOS)
The operating system is made up of a number of
programs that organise the computer, enabling it
to understand information or run other programs
and output results.
Without the operating system the user cannot
communicate with the computer.
The name ‘disk operating system’ is a misnomer
as DOS deals with all the computers operations,
not just the disks.
The operating system must be loaded onto the
hard drive of the computer before any software
program can run.
Eg. Deleting files,
loading programs etc.
