1. Quickly check for dangers to the victim and rescuers.
2- Assess Responsiveness: A .Determine responsiveness (Level of
consciousness): tap or gently shake victim while shouting, “Are you okay?”
or use painful stimulus
B .If the victim is not responsive, call for help and call the facility emergency
response number. Call for the automated external defibrillator (AED).
C .Position the victim supine on his or her back on a firm, flat surface, with
arms alongside the body.
D .If he has suspected head or neck trauma, he should not be moved unless it
is absolutely necessary (eg, at the site of an accident, fire, or other unsafe
environment).
3- Check pulse (Circulation): Check the carotid pulse, this assessment
should take at least 5 seconds and no more than 10 seconds.
If pulse is not palpable, start external chest compressions
C .Kneel as close to side of victim's chest as possible keeping arms
straight, elbows locked, and shoulders positioned directly over hands
D. position the heel of one hand in the center of the chest between the
nipples, directly over the lower half of the sternum. Place the other hand
directly on top of the first hand. Extend or interlace fingers to keep fingers
above the chest. Straighten arms and position shoulders directly over hands.
E .Compress the center of the chest hard and fast at least 100 to 120
compression per minute at a depth of at least 5 cm (2 inches)
F .Allow full chest recoil (re-expand) after each compression.(Do not lift
your hands from the victim's chest or change position)
J. Minimize interruption in compression (less than 10 seconds )

H. If present 2 provider must be switch providers position every 2 minutes
4. Open the airway:
1- Head-tilt/chin-lift maneuver:
Place one hand on the victim’s forehead and apply firm, backward
pressure with the palm to tilt the head back. Place the fingers of the other
hand under the bony part of the lower jaw near the chin and lift the jaw
upward to bring the chin forward and the teeth almost to occlusion
2- Jaw-thrust maneuver:
Place one hand on each side of the victim’s head. Rest elbows on the flat
surface under the victim, grasp the angle of the victim’s lower jaw, and lift
with both hands.
5. Check Breathing:
Place ear over victim 's mouth and nose while observing the chest,
look for the chest to rise and fall, listen for air escaping during
exhalation, and feel for the flow of air. OR
Look: movement of the chest. listen: expiratory air sound.
Feel: air motion.
B .Perform rescue breathing by mouthto-mouth, using a
ventilation barrier device.
C .Keeping the victim's airway open, pinch the nostrils
closed using the thumb and index finger of the hand have placed
on his forehead
D .Take a deep breath and holding it, open your mouth
wide, and place it around the outside edge of the victim's mouth to
create an airtight seal.
E .Ventilate the victim with two full breaths (each lasting

1 second), taking a breath after each ventilation.
.If the initial ventilation attempt is unsuccessful, reposition the victim's head
and repeat rescue breathing.
G .Watch to see if the chest rises. If it Does rise, give the second
breath.
F .If the chest not rises start maneuver of airway
obstruction.
6. Defibrillation if present : If no pulse, check for a checkable rhythm with
an AED – defibrillation as soon as it arrives.
- Provide as indicated
H Follow each shock immediately with CPR
[Link] second cycle of compressions at correct hand position , Gives 2
breaths (1 second each) (10 -12 breath per min and 100 -120 compression per
min )
8- Stop CPR when advanced care providers arrive or you are too exhausted
to continue
9. If the victim starts to move, put victim on recovery position.
