BODY:

Customer segmentation is a critical aspect of effective marketing. By

dividing your Customer base into specific groups based on shared
characteristics, you can create targeted marketing campaigns that are
more likely to resonate with your audience and drive engagement.
Wendell R. Smith first coined the expression “market segmentation” in his
1956 publication Product Differentiation and Market Segmentation as
Alternative Marketing Strategies. Smith wrote that modern marketing
appeals to selective rather than primary buying motives.

Consumer segmentation is really effective to have a large sales even in e

commerce This will help attract only customers who need it, for example,
in an accounting firm, their target market is business owners that need an
accountant, and there are so many businesses owners here, in the
Philippines and the revenue of that firm will increase and as the as the
number of owners increases, the demand for an accountant also increases
and Especially online, many people buy everything online and customer
segmentation helps to increase their sales even more, just like the familiar
shop that I always see especially on Tiktok, the Hattie Diary, their first
target market is women and their sales increase even more, especially
when it is recommended by influencers and others.

There a two popular algorithim to know the shared characteristics of the

consumer the Kmeans clustering and Hierarchical clustering K-means
clustering a popular algorithm that partitions data points into clusters
based on their similarity, with each cluster having a centroid representing
the average characteristics of its members, and the Hierarchical clustering
a method that builds a hierarchy of clusters, starting with individual data
points and merging similar ones until a desired number of clusters is
reached.

This is a good strategy especially for online businesses but there are still
problems with it including Poor quality data in source systems can result in
inaccurate segment groupings, Gathering the right data, especially
behavioral and needs-based data, can be challenging and time-
consuming, Customer behaviors and needs are dynamic. Segments that
were accurate at one point may become irrelevant as demographics shift
and preferences change and others
