Talent Reimagined – Reverse Mentoring by

Gen Z
Program Handbook: Cohort 1
A Welcome from Our CHRO

Welcome to the inaugural cohort of Talent Reimagined.

The world of work is changing at an unprecedented pace, and to lead, we must be willing to
learn in new ways. The traditional, top-down model of mentorship, while valuable, only tells
part of the story. The other part—the one that holds the key to our future growth, innovation,
and relevance—lies with the generation that is shaping the digital-first world: Gen Z.

This program is more than just an initiative; it's a strategic imperative. We are flipping the
traditional hierarchy to create a powerful, two-way channel for learning. By pairing our
emerging talent with our seasoned leaders, we are investing in a future where our strategies
are more agile, our culture is more inclusive, and our company is the undisputed destination
for the best and brightest talent.

To our mentors, thank you for your courage and for stepping up to be our guides. To our
mentees, thank you for your openness and your commitment to lifelong learning. What you
build together over the next six months will create a ripple effect across the entire
organization.

Let's get started.

1. Our Vision: Why We're Here

The Problem: The gap is widening between Gen Z's digital fluency and evolving workplace
expectations, and senior leaders' extensive industry knowledge. If we don't bridge this gap,
we risk cultural disconnects, delayed transformation, and a failure to attract and retain the
next generation of leaders.

The Solution: We're flipping the script. This program leverages the unique perspectives of
our Gen Z colleagues to guide our leaders. It's a confidential, safe space designed to foster
mutual learning, challenge assumptions, and drive real, actionable change in our talent
acquisition strategies.

Our Four Key Objectives

Over this six-month pilot, we are focused on four clear outcomes:

1. Innovate Our Strategy: Develop a strategic action plan to future-proof our talent
acquisition processes, from job descriptions to the candidate experience.
2. Boost Our Appeal: Equip senior leaders with a deep understanding of Gen Z's career
expectations, making our company a more attractive place for emerging talent.
3. Create a Playbook: Capture all insights to build a final program report for
leadership, with recommendations for scaling our efforts.
4. Ensure an Awesome Experience: Deliver a rewarding and valuable experience for
every participant, targeting ≥85% positive feedback.

2. Your Role in the Program

This is a partnership where everyone has a vital part to play. We expect a time commitment
of roughly 3-4 hours per month, covering your sessions, prep, and documentation.

For Our Gen Z Mentors

You are the expert here. You are a digitally fluent employee with less than five years of
experience, and your mission is to share your world.

Your Responsibilities:

• Be the Guide: Bring your honest, unfiltered perspective on trends, technology,

communication styles, and what you and your peers really look for in a company.
• Drive the Conversation: You are responsible for setting a simple agenda before each
meeting and ensuring the conversation stays on track.
• Speak Up: Your voice is the most critical component of this program. Don't be afraid
to be candid, constructive, and clear.
• Document Insights: After each session, log three key takeaways in our shared
template. This is crucial for our final report.

What’s in it for You? Unmatched visibility with senior leaders, a powerful opportunity to
develop your coaching and influencing skills, and a real chance to shape the future of our
company.

For Our Leaders (Mentees)

You are a senior leader (Band X & above) who influences talent decisions. Your goal is to be
a sponge for knowledge and an agent for change.

Your Responsibilities:

• Listen with Curiosity: Come to every session with an open mind, ready to listen and
learn. The goal is to understand, not to debate or defend the status quo.
• Ask Great Questions: Dig deeper. Go beyond the "what" to understand the "why"
behind the insights you're hearing.
• Be an Action Hero: Actively think about how you can translate these conversations
into real changes and experiments within your teams and functional areas.
• Champion the Program: Be a vocal advocate for this initiative and the value of
reverse mentoring within your leadership circles.
What’s in it for You? Direct, unfiltered access to the perspective of our future talent, a
chance to challenge your own assumptions, and the tools to become a more effective and
inclusive leader.

3. The 6-Month Journey

Here is a phase-by-phase look at how the program will unfold.

Phase 1: The Kick-Off (Pre-Program)

• Pairing & Orientation: You have been thoughtfully paired and have attended the
official program kickoff.
• Pledge Signed: You have signed the Confidentiality & Participation Pledge, our
shared foundation of trust.

Phase 2: The Core Mission (Months 1-5)

This is where the magic happens. You will conduct at least two formal sessions per month,
each lasting 60–90 minutes.

Suggested Monthly Themes & Guiding Questions:

• Month 1: Decoding the Digital World

o Where do you and your friends actually discover new companies? What's an
instant turn-off on a career page? How can we use authentic storytelling in
recruitment?
• Month 2: The New Tech Stack
o Walk me through a gamified assessment you've taken. What are your thoughts
on AI in recruiting? What are your data privacy concerns as a candidate?
• Month 3: More Than a Paycheck
o Beyond salary, what do you look for in a company's culture? How can you tell
if a company's values are real? How can we reduce stress during the hiring
process?
• Month 4: Crafting the Message
o Let's look at one of our job descriptions. How would you rewrite it to focus on
impact and growth? What language makes a company sound authentic versus
trying too hard?
• Month 5: The Future of Work & Growth
o What does a great manager-employee relationship look like? What
development opportunities are most exciting? How important is flexibility in
where and when you work?

Key Activities:

• Mid-Program Pulse Survey: We will gather anonymous feedback to make real-time

adjustments.
• Session Logs: Mentors will consistently update the takeaway log after each session.

Phase 3: Making an Impact (Month 6)

This is where we share the knowledge.

• Final Session & Synthesis: Consolidate your most important insights and create a
forward-looking roadmap for TA innovations.
• Impact Showcase: Prepare and present your key findings and stories to HR
leadership and key business stakeholders.
• Program Wrap-Up: Complete the final feedback survey to help us measure success
and plan for the future.

4. The Rules of Engagement

To make this a productive and psychologically safe experience, we ask that you commit to
these guidelines:

1. Keep it Confidential: Trust is everything. What is discussed in your sessions stays

there. This is a non-negotiable part of the pledge you signed.
2. Stay Open & Respectful: The goal is mutual learning. Every perspective holds
value, especially those that challenge our own way of thinking. Assume positive
intent.
3. Come Prepared: To honor each other's time, mentors will share a simple agenda
before each session. A little prep goes a long way.
4. Jot it Down: The "Session Agenda & Takeaway Log" is not bureaucracy; it’s how we
ensure great ideas don't get lost. Use it consistently.
5. Give & Get Feedback: The best partnerships thrive on feedback. Be open to sharing
what's working and what could be better, both with your partner and with the program
coordinators.

5. Tools, Resources & Next Steps

Your Toolkit

• Session Agenda & Takeaway Log: A shared document for your pair to plan sessions
and record key insights.

• Program Hub: A central site containing this handbook, key dates, and contact
information.

the mentee within 48 hours to get your first session on the calendar.
2. Prepare for Session 1: Review the "Month 1: Decoding the Digital World" theme.
Mentors, prepare a simple 3-point agenda. Mentees, come with one specific question
you're curious about.
3. Reach Out: If you have any questions, please don't hesitate.
