CHAPTER –FILE MANAGEMENT
Define the terms :
1. File : A computer file is a collection of data stored on a
computer system.
2. Folder : A folder is a collection of files and other folders .
3. Subfolder : A folder within a folder is called a subfolder.
4. File Explorer : File Explorer is a very important file managing
application used to view and organize files and folders on the
computer.
5. Recycle bin : Recycle bin is an application on the desktop which
stores your deleted files or folders.
I. ANSWER THE FOLLOWING:
1. What is the difference between a File and a Folder?

II WRITE THE FUNCTIONS OF THE FOLLOWING:
1. Navigation Pane: The Navigation Pane on the left allows us to
browse through different parts of the computer.
2. Back and Forward Buttons: The Back and the Forward buttons
allows us to navigate to folders or libraries that we have recently
browsed.
3. Ribbon : It shows the different options possible for the task that
you can do with the items selected.
4. Address bar: Enables you to go to a different folder in the same
Explorer window.
5. Search box: Allows you to search for subfolders, documents,
images, programs, Web pages and bookmarks in the current
folder.
6. Preview/ Detail Pane: Enables you to quickly preview an item,
such as a photo without having to open that item.
7. Status Bar: Displays information about a selected folder and its
contents, such as the total number of items in the folder, the
number of items selected and total file size.
III. WRITE SHORTCUT KEYS FOR:
1. Cut Ctrl + X
2. Copy Ctrl + C
3. Paste Ctrl + V
4. Rename F2
