Automated Cross-Platform SSH Setup for Seamless Remote Access
over IPv6
Course:B. Tech Year:IV Semester: I I Section:A
ABSTRACT
In today’s connected world, secure remote access has become an important part of managing computers,
servers, and IoT devices. This project aims to make that process simple and automatic by creating a
cross-platform tool that sets up SSH (Secure Shell) access on any system — whether it is Windows,
Linux, or macOS. Normally, configuring SSH requires several manual steps, such as installing the
OpenSSH server, editing configuration files, enabling firewall rules, and finding the correct IP address.
Many users, especially beginners, find these steps confusing and time-consuming.
This project automates all of those tasks through a single script. The tool first detects the operating
system and then performs all the necessary setup steps automatically. It enables the SSH server,
configures it to work over IPv6 (which does not require port forwarding like IPv4), and optionally
integrates with DuckDNS to provide a static domain name even if the IP address changes. The result is a
system that can be accessed securely from anywhere with just a few clicks.
By removing the complexity of manual SSH configuration, this project helps both beginners and
professionals set up secure remote access quickly and confidently. It demonstrates how automation can
simplify network management and improve productivity in a safe and reliable way.
