3. Example 3 – Types of infringements
 Create a new control with data:
Company name: Example 5
Date: today
Period: from 1.07.2009 till 4.02.2010
Type: control in the premises
Time zone: UTC+1 (PL)
 Open all files from “Example 3 - Driving without driver card” folder.
 Go to Infringements and manipulations window and click Generate. Filter infringements
one by one and show each on a weekly or monthly chart (support with definitions from
Regulation 561/2006 and 165/2014),
o Filter examples for “Driving without a break exceeded”:
 Show infringement on 28-07-2009 from 4:40 to 10:58
 Explain how to find it on a weekly graph
 Ask why a 41 min break finishes a continuous driving period (there is also
a 16 min break).
 Ask what the reason is of infringements in the next period, on 28-07-2009
from 11:39 to 22:47 is (the 16 min break is not taken before the 32 min
break)
 Inform that there is a possibility that during the analysis a norm of 3 hours
may occur when the option of analysing weekly rests in 12 periods of 24
hours is turned on.
o Filter examples for “Daily driving time exceeded”
 Show example on 31-08-2009 from 3:36 to 16:08, explain why it is the
most serious infringement (more than 15 hours of driving and no rest of at
least 4,5 hours). Explain why there is an information “1x10” – where the
weekly rest is.

5
 Show infringement from 18-08-2009 5:10 to 19-08-2009 21:13, explain
why there is a sum of driving from two days (daily driving time is between
daily rest, weekly rest or uninterrupted rest of at least 7 hours). In the
same view show also the next period from 20-08-2009 4:36 to 22-08-2009
15:35 as an example which shows the result of analysis when we have
rests shorter or longer than 7 hours.
 Show infringement on 02-09-2009 from 5:56 to 21:58 with a norm of 9
hours. On a weekly graph go up two days (explain shortly how to move up
and down on this graph) to show days from Monday 31-08-2009 to
Sunday 06-09-2009. Explain why there is a symbol “3x10” on Wednesday.
Show the norm of 9 or 10 hours on the list of infringements.
 Explain why it is important to check the infringement on the graph – be-
cause one minute on Monday can be a reason of one hour infringement
e.g. on Thursday.
o Filter examples for “Weekly driving time exceeded”
 Show infringement from 21-09-2009 00:00 to 27-09-2009 23:59 on a
weekly chart.
 Explain what a “week” is according to the definition in regulation 561.
 Show how to mark the whole week on a weekly chart and show a sum-
mary of activities.
 Show “Days” tab with a summary for each day.
 Explain why this is the most serious infringement in this week – when
weekly driving time is more than 25% too long (more than 70 hours).
o Filter examples for “Fortnightly driving time exceeded”
 Show infringement from 07-09-2009 00:00 to 20-09-2009 23:59 on a
monthly chart (do not click twice on the infringement, mark the infringe-
ment and choose the option “Monthly chart” from the context menu).
 Explain Monthly chart, how to show/hide driving activities.
 Explain how to find a situation where a driver forgot to change the se-
lector during daily rest and show an example on the chart.
 Show how to mark two weeks on the chart.

 Explain the reason why in this situation this is the most serious infringe-
ment – when fortnightly driving time is more than 25% too long (more
than 112:30 hours).
o Filter examples for “Daily rest period reduced”
 Show infringement from 28-07-2009 22:57 to 29-07-2009 4:34 on a
weekly chart. Explain why this daily rest is marked as 1x9 and what it
means. Explain why there is only one infringement in this week for insuffi-
cient daily rest – during analysis we are looking for daily rest in 24/30
hours from the end of daily or weekly rest or 7 hours rest but in this
period there is a very big infringement for too long daily driving time. If it
is necessary show the definition of daily driving time in regulation 561.
 Show infringement from 03-09-2009 20:53 to 04-09-2009 5:35 on a
weekly chart. Show this insufficient daily rest with symbol “4x9”. Go up
three days to show also the weekly rest that finishes on Monday. Show
how daily rests are marked – 1x9, 2x9, etc. Show the norm of 9 hours or
11 hours and a difference in the level of seriousness on the infringements’
list.
 Show infringement from 21-11-2009 19:30 to 22-11-2009 5:45 on a
weekly chart. Explain why this reduced weekly rest (32:33) is analysed as
too short daily rest – working time is more than 13 hours long and in this
case the driver has reduced daily rest for more than three times.
 Show infringement from 19-10-2009 22:39 to 20-10-2009 5:19 with a
norm of 12 hours on a weekly chart as an example of daily rest taken in
two parts where the first part lasts more than 3 hours but the second part
lasts less than 9 hours.

o Filter examples for “Weekly rest period reduced”
 Show infringement from 29-08-2009 15:02 to 31-08-2009 3:36 on a
monthly chart (from the context menu). Show only daily and weekly rests.
Explain again how data is presented on a monthly chart – one week from
Monday till Sunday is in one row and how weekly rests are presented -
grey/green colour if weekly rest is between weeks. Explain the first step
analysis of weekly rests – in each two weeks there should be at least two
regular weekly rests or at least one regular and one reduced weekly rest
and how weekly rests between two weeks are analyse. In the first two
weeks it is not possible to find a regular weekly rest – one weekly rest is
marked as “45”.
 Show infringement from 18-09-2009 20:20 to 19-09-2009 8:58 with norm
of 24 hours. Explain how fast should the next period of a weekly rest
start– in 6 periods of 24 hours from the end of the last weekly rest. Show
how this period is marked on the chart. Explain how the infringement is
calculated when this period is not correct – we are looking for the longest
rest in this period and show it as insufficient weekly rest. Turn on all the
activities and show where a driver forgot to change the selector. Ask the
group to manually change these activities on the daily chart to resting
periods and to again generate the infringements list.
 Show infringement from 22-08-2009 15:35 to 20-09-2009 23:59 on a
monthly chart. Explain how reduced weekly rest should be compensated
according to regulation 561. Give information that it is possible to see the
reduced weekly rest on the monthly chart and also the whole period
when a driver should take a compensation. Show rest with symbol “24”
but also with the infringement line. Show the below example of weekly
rest with compensation and show how to find detailed information about
this compensation.

 Inform about Infringements “Lack of proper indication of country at the beginning or end
of daily driving” and “Failure to produce of record sheet, digital data or the attestation” –
both are disabled in settings. Lack of countries is possible to check manually on graphs,
lack of periods is possible to check in the report with missing periods (Reports -> Missing
data of the driver).
 Filter examples for “Transgression of average of weekly working time”
o Show how to define periods in “Advanced option” and in the control window (use
“Edit the control” button on “Current control” tab).
o Open and explain the report with calculation of average weekly working time us-
ing the button “Detailed report” in section “Advanced option”.
o Note: Working time is always the sum of driving and other work activities.
 Filter examples for “Transgression of weekly working time”
o Show first infringement on a weekly chart, mark all activities and check sum of
driving and other work.
 Filter examples for “Transgression of weekly working time of at most 10h at night time”
o Show first infringement and explain how this infringement is generated – the
night shift lasts from 0:00 to 4:00 and it is locked, if a driver has any working time
during this period (even lasting one minute) then the daily working time is limited
to 10 hours. Daily working time is calculated always in 24-hour periods.
 Filter examples for “Transgression of weekly working time without a break”
o Explain how the software generates this infringement, use slide no. 2 – in the first
6 hours of working time there is a demand for a 30 minute break or 45 minute
break. A 30 minute break is demanded when the whole working time is not
longer than 9 hours, whereas a 45 minute break is demanded when the whole
working time is longer than 9 hours. This break can be taken in two or three parts
of at least 15 minutes each
 Explain options at the list of infringements, acceptance of infringements and adding an-
notations. For option “allow weekly rest periods after up to 12 days” use slide no. 2.
 Show Report preview and Control report (different languages).

Company name: Example 4
Date: 10.04.2013
Period: 13.03.2013 - 10.04.2013
Time zone: UTC+2 (LT)
 Open all files from “Example 4 - Team and tachograph” folder.
 Go to “Infringements and manipulations” window and click “Generate” button.
 Driver card tab – ask the group to find the problem in one of the days, explain that two
drivers were driving in team and they said that nobody else was driving this truck in the
last 28 days, advice the group to compare activities from both driver cards and slot 1 of
the tachograph (19-03-2013).
 Copy part of activities from the graph – unblock edition on the tab of driver card of
Viktor, using the mouse select activities from slot 1 till 12:00, click the right button of the
mouse and copy the driving activities to the card by option “ Copy marked activities to
driver’s data”. Copy also from slot 2 the availability activities from 12:00 to about 17:40
using the same function and do just the opposite on the tab of driver Viktor.
 Go to “Infringements and manipulations” tab – refresh the list and see the changes.
Open one infringement of “Daily resting time too short” on a weekly chart - view the
activities and show the period of 24h instead of 30h due to missing multi-manning sign.
 Go to Driver card tab – in the table of activities highlight all positions with a status “No”
in the column “Team” and clicking the right button of the mouse change Team into
“Yes”.
 Go to “Infringements and manipulations” tab – refresh the list and see the changes.
Open again the infringement for the same driver in a weekly chart and show the change
of the period to 30h.

Company name: Example 6
Date: today
Period: from 1.05.2006 till today
Type: control in the premises
Time zone: UTC+1 (PL, D, CZ)
 Open all files from “Example 6 - Manipulations Warnings” folder. Choose option “Save as
new” for all massages with question about drivers with the same surname.
 Open window “Infringements and manipulations” and click button “Generate”. Explain
table with manipulation warnings and section with description for each warning.
 Go step by step to explain each type of manipulation warning according to the list with
examples below.
 “Availability activities in slot 2 during stopover in slot 1” and “Velocity during the stop-
over in slot 1” – explain “short drivings” manipulation with slides no. 3,4 and 5. Use truck
“LAU HU 59” to show examples of “Availability activities in slot 2 during stopover in slot
1” and show few days. Use truck “KSU 6J89” on 18-06-2012 to show example of “Velocity
during the stopover in slot 1”.
 Show only one example of “Driving without a proper card” e.g. on 13-11-2013 from
11:09 to 11:20 for “BR 10 DAH” - further explanation is not necessary because it has
already been explained in Example no. 3.
 “Use of several driver cards” – this manipulation warning has been explained in the first
example.

 “Average daily speed exceeded” – explain situations where this value can be wrong - in
situation when a driver drove in multi-manning and we have no data from tachograph
and second driver card. From tachograph this results should always be correct.
 “Overspeeding (on the basis of detailed speed)” – if inspectors check overspending show
one or two examples. By default the software will generate overspending over 90 km/h
in a period of at least 1 min and it is possible to change this setting.
 “Rapid acceleration/deceleration” – explain how the tachograph will record speed when
during driving a driver turns on or off the manipulation device. Show and explain ex-
ample from truck “FNK1159” – very high value of acceleration, zoom the moment of
rapid change of speed.
 “Unusual quick card removal and insertion” and “Unusual quick card removal and inser-
tion – Team” – explain when this manipulation warning is generated and default settings
for it. Show example from truck “9A62974” on 01-03-2010 at 22:10, click double to open
this day in window with data from tachograph, zoom activities and explain this example
(activities and detailed speed).
 “Event – session of the last card not closed properly” – explain how and when a tacho-
graph saves data on a driver card and how it is possible to lock it (use slide no. 7 and 8).
Explain examples from the list – time of this events and the frequency of its recording is
very important.
 “Event – power interruption” – explain how drivers can use devices to turn off power and
what will in such situations be saved by the tachograph. Explain how it is possible to
lower the voltage from 24V to 6V.
 “Event - overlapping times” – explain when this situation is recorded by a tachograph
and how to check how long it is /they are overlapping.
 “Event – card inserted during driving” – explain that this manipulation warning is useful
to find driving without a card but usually in such situations another manipulation warn-
ing “Driving without a proper card” generated.

 “Event – motion data error” – first warning useful to find manipulation devices which
block signal from sensors e.g. magnet, second sensor, etc. This event could be recorded
by all version of tachographs. Show part of regulation in description to explain when this
event is recorded – but in practice sometimes tachograph generate this event when
driver use some manipulation device.
 “Fault – sensor failure” – second warning useful to find manipulation devices, show a
sentence from regulation 1266/2009 in description, explain which tachographs can re-
cord this fault – all trucks registered from 1 October 2012 should have 3 rd version and a
new version of sensors with the possibility to measure magnetic field around.
 “Event – vehicle motion conflict” – third warning useful to find manipulation devices,
show a sentence from regulation 1266/2009 in description, explain two signals in 3 rd ver-
sion of tachographs. Filter warning for truck “CA7177TH” and show example of Yord-
anow Daniel of 10-05-2013 from 17:12. Explain rules how tachographs record events and
faults. Open the same day from the driver card (10-05-2013) and show where the coun-
try code is recorded. Open the weekly chart for this driver and show a few similar situ-
ations for other days.
 “Event – unauthorized alteration in the motion sensor” – explain that this event is recor-
ded by a tachograph usually when the tachograph detects alteration in the motion
sensor without calibration mode. Sometimes this event is recorded when a driver uses
an installation with second motion sensor.
 Explain manipulation warnings from calibrations:
o “Significant change of characteristic coefficient of the vehicle (w)” and “Signific-
ant change of constant of the recording equipment (k)” – explain when this warn-
ing is generated and what the inspector can do if the values look incorrectly. Ex-
plain how a tachograph converts impulses from the motion sensor to speed and
distance.

o “Significant change of characteristic coefficient of the vehicle (w) w/o change of
effective circumference of the wheel tyres (l)” and “Significant change of constant
of the recording equipment (k) w/o change of effective circumference of the
wheel tyres (l)” - explain when this warning is generated and what the inspector
can do if these values look incorrectly. Explain how a tachograph converts im-
pulses from the motion sensor to speed and distance.
o “Change of vehicle identification number” – explain that this situation can be cor-
rect but it is not allowed to move the old version of a tachograph to a new truck.
o “Change of tyre size during the calibration” – open the calibration and check if
other values like “l” and “k” were also changed.
o “Significant change of odometer value” – show example in calibration and explain
when this warning can suggest that a driver is using any manipulation devices –
difference between the odometer in a truck and the odometer in a tachograph.
o “Many calibrations in a 2-year period” – explain when and why this situation is
suspicious – according to the information from other inspections when a driver
uses a magnet very often it is necessary to often exchange the motion sensor.
o “More than 2 years passed since the last calibration” – during a roadside check it
is always an infringement.
o “First sensor pairing date different from first calibration-activation date” – show
example from truck “BR 10 DAH” where the first paring date of the motion sensor
is 18-01-2008 and the first activation of the vehicle unit is 19-07-2011. Explain
that both dates and times should be similar. Explain why time in calibration is
useful.
o “Invalid authorized speed in the calibration” –the authorized speed in calibration
should be 90 or 100 km/h, according to this value the tachograph generates over-
speeding events.
 Explain settings of manipulation warnings.

 Show folder with list of DDD files and explain that in this check there is no data from
driver cards from period 1.6.2016 to 15.06.2016
 Explain what Compare Activities window presents and how to activate this functionality
 Go to Compare Activities window and generate activities without a match from a period
from 1.12.2015 to 31.05.2016. Explain what the result mean
 Then generate again not matching activities but this time from period 1.12.2015 to
15.06.2016. Explain what these results mean.
 Give conclusion to this exercise explaining what this functionality may help controllers
with.
 Next go to Risk analysis of loss of good repute
 Explain what purpose of this functionality.
 Explain that adding information about driver employment period is crucial to make a
correct calculation of the average of VSI per driver per year.

Time zone: UTC+3 (TR)

 Open all files from “Example 8 - S-files” folder.

 On the data summary window explain the details regarding certificates from s-file and
regular tachograph file
 Open daily chart from driver and explain the speed trace and scroll to previous days to
show when speed data from S-file complements the speed data from regular file
 Go to speed section in the tachograph file and explain the window
 Explain the tools available for speed analysis on the speed chart: zooming tools, check
points, speed values
 Explain how to generate csv/xls report from speed data.
 Go to daily chart from 30th January 2019 and explain driver behaviour and benefits from
having s-file speed data available in this control
