Tutorial 8 ModelAnswer

The document outlines a tutorial for the 3rd Year Computer Systems Engineering Program focused on modeling and simulation techniques. It includes problems requiring the application of Forward Euler, Backward Euler, and Modified Euler methods to solve differential equations with specified step sizes. Additionally, it addresses a circuit modeling problem involving the rate of change of current over time, requiring similar numerical methods for solution.

TUTORIAL 8 Model Answer

1. For the function y’(t) = ty + 1, use the following methods to find y(t) in the interval [0, 1],
assume the step size is 0.25 and y(0) = 1.
i. Forward Euler Method
ii. Backward Euler Method
iii. Modified Euler Method
2. Repeat the problem with a step size of 0.5
3. A proposed circuit was modelled by providing the rate of change of current over time. The
model was mathematically represented by

If therewas no initial current in the circuit, find the approximate current in the circuit
