Problem Analysis and Requirement Specification

Problem Analysis
 Traditional clinics rely heavily on paperwork, leading to inefficiencies, delays, and
errors in record management.
 Manual appointment scheduling often results in double bookings, long waiting times,
and patient dissatisfaction.
 Lack of centralized systems makes it difficult for healthcare professionals to access
patient records promptly.
 Patients have limited access to their medical records, lab results, and prescriptions
outside clinic visits.
 Many clinics are not equipped with virtual consultation capabilities, especially in
remote or pandemic situations.
 Legacy systems are often non-scalable, difficult to maintain, and lack modern user
interfaces.
 Sensitive medical data is at risk in outdated systems due to weak authentication and
inadequate encryption.
 There is a growing need for real-time communication between patients and doctors for
follow-ups and consultations.
 Clinics lack insightful analytics for operational performance and patient care
improvement.
 Existing platforms may not support multilingual interfaces, making accessibility difficult
for diverse populations.

Requirement Specification
 The system shall provide secure user registration and login functionality for patients,
doctors, and administrators.
 Patients shall be able to schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments based on real-
time doctor availability.
 Doctors shall be able to view, manage, and update patient health records through a
personalized dashboard.
 The system shall support secure messaging and file sharing between patients and
doctors.
 Video call integration for virtual consultations shall be implemented using secure APIs
(e.g., WebRTC or third-party SDKs).
 The admin panel shall allow administrators to manage users, clinic settings, and
generate performance reports.
 All data shall be stored securely in a NoSQL database (MongoDB) with proper schema
validation and encryption.
 The application shall be developed using the MERN stack for full-stack flexibility and
scalability.
 Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) shall ensure that users access only the data they are
authorized to view.
 The system shall include appointment reminders and alerts via email and/or SMS using
third-party notification services.
 The UI/UX shall be responsive and mobile-friendly to ensure accessibility on all devices.
 Doctors shall be able to prescribe medications and send digital prescriptions to patients
within the system.
 The system shall log user activity and maintain an audit trail for administrative
monitoring.
 Patients shall have access to their previous appointment history, diagnoses, and reports
through their portal.
 The application shall support uploading and viewing of medical documents and lab
reports in common formats (PDF, JPG, etc.).
 The platform shall include dashboards for real-time analytics such as patient inflow,
appointment trends, and doctor performance.
 The system shall comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA for secure handling
of patient data.
 The database shall support indexing and optimized queries to ensure high performance
even under heavy load.
 Data backups and recovery mechanisms shall be in place to ensure business continuity.
 All user input fields shall include validation checks to prevent data entry errors and
ensure data integrity.
