Here we choose "3 point corner rectangle" because we need to create a square kite shape
which is going to be the cross-section of our geometry.
So, after choosing 3 point corner rectangle make a rough tilted rectangle then select opposite SolidWorks
vertices and make relation horizontal and then select remaining two vertices and make Changing Units,
relation vertical. Now select construction line and make horizontal and vertical line in such a Dimensions &
way that they intersect exactly at the centre of kite shape as shown below: Image Quality + A

Now select ‘sweep boss/ base’ command from feature tab and sweep the square kite shape on complex configurations curve
the circular path by selecting the kite shape as a sketch profile and circle as a path and also customising cylinder decals
specify twist value (6 Revolutions) which is located under the option menu of sweep command

After performing sweep operation cut a small portion of the swept geometry which is going to
software solidworks
be our main entity and use later to create circular pattern. So in order to cut the specific
portion make triangular sketch on the top plane by making a vertical construction line from solidworks 2017 solidworks 2018
origin and then make an inclined line from origin and give angle 7.5 degrees between these solidworks tip solidworks tools

And the use mirror sketch command from sketch menu to mirror the inclined line about
vertical construction line as shown in the above image.
After that make horizontal line to close the bottom of the triangle as shown in the image
below:

Now select the extrude cut command from the feature tab and select the triangular sketch and
choose ‘Through all both’ as a cut type and in order to keep the portion which is inside the
triangle make sure flip outside must be selected as shown in the image below:
STEP 2:
In this step we make some details in that cut portion. But before making details we need to
fillet the sharp twisted edges. So, select the fillet option and click on one of the twisted edge,
after selecting one edge a small pop icons will appear then click on the first icon in order to
select the rest of three edges as shown in the image below:
After making the ellipse choose extrude cut from the features tab then select the ellipse. But
here we need a tapered cut on the existing entity so we need to define an offset value of
41mm (35mm+6mm) and also specify inward draft value of 7.5 degrees with blind cut of 15mm
as shown in the image below:
After making the tapered cut, fillet the sharp edges of fillet radius 0.5mm as shown in the
image below:
Note: We can also choose internal face to fillet both the edges simultaneously.
After doing fillets the main portion of the geometry is created. Now it’s a time to pattern the
created body but circular pattern requires an axis to generate the pattern so firstly make a
reference axis by using reference geometry, which is located at the end section of features tab.
So, select Axis icon under reference geometry command this option will enable us to create a
reference axis with the help of the intersection of two planes. So select the front plane and
right plane and hit green check mark to create the axis as shown in the image below:
Now, let’s make a circular pattern about the reference axis with the help of circular pattern
feature which is located in the features tab.
After selecting the circular pattern, choose the reference axis (Axis 1) and give instance value
24 (360⁰ /15⁰ =24) and make sure that select ‘Bodies’ and then click on the existing body to
generate a circular pattern as shown in the image below:
After creating the circular pattern our final shape is ready but there are 24 solid bodies so we
have to merge it by using combine which can be find by searching in the command search bar.
After finding the ‘Combine’ command select all the bodies by holding the left button and
hover the mouse over the bodies then make sure ‘Add’ option is selected and then hit the
green check to combine all the bodies into one as shown in the image below:
After performing combine command we successfully created our final output. You can also
enable the shaded mode and choose any colour what you want and then render the final
geometry. Here is a rendered image shown below:
