INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT
INSTRUCTIONS

1. This is individual assignment

2. Submission should be done on/before 7th February 2026

The Kigamboni Satellite City Project in Tanzania was abandoned after significant financial and planning
failures. Using this project as a case study, describe the top five risks that should have been anticipated
during its planning phase. Construct a risk register that includes probability, impact, and mitigation strategies
for each risk. Then, critically analyze how the absence of effective risk monitoring and stakeholder
engagement contributed to the project’s collapse. Finally, compare this case with another successful mega
project, either within Tanzania or internationally, to highlight lessons learned and propose recommendations
for strengthening risk management practices in future Tanzanian mega projects.
