MOCK TEST: 2025-26

SUBJECT: MATHEMATICS(041)
GRADE: X ANSWER KEY SET B [Link]: 40
1. Prove that (√2 + √5 ) is irrational.

2. Find the solutions of the pair of linear equations 5𝑥 + 10y – 50 = 0 and 𝑥 + 8y = 10 ,

hence find the value of m if y = m𝑥 + 5.
5𝑥 + 10y – 50 = 0 --i 𝑥 + 8y = 10 ---ii
Divide eqn i by 5 x + 2y = 10 ---iii
Subtracting, 6y = 0 and y = 0
Substitutey = 0 in eqn iii: x = 10
So the solution is (10 , 0)
Solve for m ,m = -1/2
3. 4 chairs and 3 tables cost ₹ 2100 and 5 chairs and 2 tables cost ₹ 1750. Find the cost of one chair and
one table separately.

Let the cost of one chair = x Rupees Let the cost of one table = y Rupees
According to the question:
4x + 3y = 2100 --(i) 5x + 2y = 1750 --(ii)
Solving the equations: (4x + 3y = 2100) * 5 (5x + 2y = 1750) * 4
20x + 15y = 10500 20x + 8y = 7000
7y = 3500 y = 3500/7 = 500 y = 500
And x = 150
4. Find the value of k such that the following pair of linear equations has unique solution. Solve the
equations. 4 𝑥+ky+8=0 , 2𝑥+3y+7=0

4x + ky + 8 = 0 and 2) 2x + 3y + 7 = 0.
The coefficients are (4, k) and (2, 3). For a unique solution, a1/a2 ≠ b1/b2
we need to ensure that (4/2) ≠ (k/3).
This simplifies to 2 ≠ k/3, or k ≠ 6.
Therefore, k can take any value except 6.
Now, let's solve the equations for a specific value of k, say k = 5.
For k = 5, the unique solution is x = 1 and y = -6.
5. Sarah and Samaira together have 25 balloons to blow air in. Both of them lost 5 balloons each due to
bursting and the product of the number of balloons they now have, is 54. Find out how many balloons
they had to start with?
x + y = 25.
(x - 5)(y - 5) = 54.
Substitute y = 25 - x into the second equation: (x - 5)(25 - x - 5) = 54.
(x - 5)(20 - x) = 54
20x – x2 - 100 + 5x = 54
x2 - 25x + 154 = 0.
x = 14 or x = 11.
6. An express train makes a run of 240 km at a certain speed. Another train whose speed is 12 km/hr less
takes an hour longer to make the same trip. What is the speed of express train?

7. Find the sum of all t he 11 terms of an AP whose middle most term is 30.
If the 5th term of an AP is equal to 10 times the 10th term, show that its 15th term is zero

5(𝑎5 ) = 10(𝑎10 ) 𝑎+4𝑑=2𝑎+18𝑑

5 (a + 4d) = 10(a +9d) a + 14d = 0
a + 4d = 2(a + 9d) = 2a + On evaluating, 18d
A15 = a + (15-1)d
= a + 14d =0

9. In the given figure, CB || QR and CA || PR. If AQ = 12 cm, AR = 20 cm, PB = = CQ 15 cm, calculate PC

and BR.
10. A 15 m high tower casts a shadow 24 m long at a certain time and at the same time, a telephone pole
casts a shadow 16 m long. Find the height of the telephone pole.

11. Find the coordinates of the points of trisection of the line segment joining the points A(7, -2)
and B(1, –5).

The coordinates of the points of trisection are (5, -3) and (3, -4).

12. Show that the points A (3 , 5), B ( 6,0 ), C ( 1,-3 ) and D ( -2,2) are the vertices of a square ABCD.
Sides AB = BC = CD = DA = √34
Diagonals = AC = BD = √68
Quadrilateral with all sides equal and diagonals equal is a squqre.
13.
14.
15. From a point on a bridge across the river ,the angles of depressions of the banks on opposite sides on
the river are 30o and 45o [Link] the bridge is at a height of 3 m from the banks,find the width
of the river.
16.

17. A Circle is touching the side BC of triangle ABC at P and touching AB and AC produced at Q and R
respectively. Prove that AQ = ½ (Perimeter of Triangle ABC)

C
18. What is the angle subtended at the centre of a circle of radius 6 cm by an arc of length 6 cm.

19. Side AB, BC and median AD of a triangle ABC are respectively proportional to sides PQ and QR and
median PM of triangle PQR. Show that ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶~∆𝑃𝑄𝑅.

19. Jaya drew this rangoli design during a competition. Circles C1, C2, C3 and C4 have common centre [Link]
table given below shows the radii of circles in terms of the radius of circle [Link] radius of circle C1 is 6 cm

a) Find the area of the shaded region.

b) Jaya want to outline the boundaries of circles C2 & C3 with ribbon. One roll of ribbon is 20 cm long. How
many of rolls of ribbon would Jaya need?

c) Jaya says “since the radius of C4 is 3.5 times the radius of C1, the area occupied by the circle C4 is also 3.5
times the area occupied by the circle C1. Is Jaya correct? Give reason.

position in the class. While coming back to their home, Isha asked for a treat from her father as a reward
for her success. They went to a juice shop and asked for two glasses of juice. Aisha, a juice seller, was
serving juice to her customers in two types of glasses. Both the glasses had inner radius 3cm. The height
of both the glasses was 10cm. First type: A Glass with hemispherical raised bottom. Second type: A glass
with conical raised bottom of height 1.5 cm. Isha insisted on having the juice in the first type of glass and
her father decided to have the juice in
