📘 Reading: A Day That Changed My Mind

Last year, I thought I did not like helping other people. I preferred to stay at home and
use my phone or watch TV. One Saturday morning, my teacher asked our class to visit a
community center. I did not want to go, but my parents encouraged me.

When we arrived, the place was small and old. Many children waited for help with their
homework. At first, I felt nervous and uncomfortable. I did not know what to do or say.

Then, a little boy named Luis asked me to help him with math. He smiled and said
“thank you” many times. We worked together for one hour. He listened carefully and
tried his best.

At the end of the day, I felt happy and proud. I learned that helping others is not boring
or difficult. That day changed my mind, and now I like to help whenever I can.

📘 Reading: The Letter I Never Expected
Two years ago, I lived in a very quiet neighborhood. I went to school, did my
homework, and spent most of my time alone. I did not talk much in class because I was
afraid of making mistakes. I thought silence was safer than speaking.

One afternoon, my English teacher asked us to write a letter to our future selves. I did
not understand the purpose, but I followed the instructions. In my letter, I wrote about
my fears, my dreams, and the things I wanted to change. I wrote that I wanted to be
more confident, but I did not believe it was possible.

The teacher collected the letters and told us she would return them one day. I forgot
about the letter and continued with my routine. Months passed, and many things
changed. I made new friends, participated more in class, and even spoke in front of
others, although I still felt nervous.

Last week, the teacher returned the letters. When I read mine, I felt surprised and
emotional. I realized that I was no longer the same person. I was not fearless, but I was
braver than before. That letter reminded me that change is slow, but possible.
