Network Design Project (Box-Based)

1. Introduction
This project explains a simple and secure network design for Al-Farabi University Computer
Science Department. The design uses box-based diagrams instead of computer icons to make the
network easy to understand.

3. Network Topology
A hierarchical topology is used with three layers: Core, Distribution, and Access. This design is
scalable, secure, and easy to manage.

5. VLAN Configuration
Each department has its own VLAN to improve security and reduce network traffic.

6. IP Addressing Scheme
Private IP addresses are used with VLSM to avoid wastage and support future growth.

7. Network Services
The server room hosts DHCP for automatic IP assignment, DNS for name resolution, and a File
Server for data storage.

8. Security Measures
Access Control Lists (ACLs) restrict unauthorized access between VLANs. Basic firewall rules
protect internet traffic.

9. Performance Analysis
Performance is checked using Cisco Packet Tracer by observing latency, throughput, and packet
loss.

10. Conclusion
This project presents a simple, secure, and scalable network design. The box-based diagram
makes the structure easy to understand and suitable for academic submission.
