Very useful for maintaining color consistency
WORKING WITH LAYERS
Content:
🔹 What Are Layers?
Think of layers as transparent sheets stacked on top of one another
Each layer can hold different elements (text, images, effects)
Layers help organize and isolate edits for non-destructive workflow
🔹 Creating, Renaming, Deleting Layers
Create: Layer > New > Layer or click the New Layer (+) icon in Layers panel
Rename: Double-click the layer name
Delete: Drag to the trash can icon or press Delete
🔹 Layer Opacity and Blending Modes
Opacity: Controls the transparency of a layer (0% = invisible, 100% = fully visible)
Blending Modes: Change how a layer interacts with layers below (e.g., Multiply, Screen, Overlay)
🔹 Layer Masks
Allow selective hiding or showing of parts of a layer
Black hides, white reveals (non-destructive editing)
Used for smooth transitions, composite images, or targeted adjustments
SELECTIONS AND MASKING
Content:
🔹 Quick Selection Tool (W)
Selects areas based on color and texture similarity
“Paint” over the area to expand the selection
Auto-detects edges, making it ideal for complex shapes
🔹 Magic Wand Tool (W)
Selects similar pixels with a single click
Adjustable tolerance value for fine control
Best for flat or uniform-colored backgrounds
🔹 Refine Edge / Select and Mask
Enhances selection edges (hair, fur, etc.)
Accessed via Select > Select and Mask
Features: Smooth, Feather, Contrast, Shift Edge
Output options: New Layer, Layer Mask, etc.
🔹 Layer Masks vs Vector Masks
Layer Masks: Use grayscale (black/white/gray) to hide or show parts of a layer
Black hides, White reveals
Vector Masks: Use paths (shapes) for sharp-edged, resolution-independent masking
Ideal for logos and sharp-edged objects

ADJUSTMENT LAYERS
🔹 Brightness/Contrast
Simple way to adjust light and dark areas
Brightness increases/decreases overall light
Contrast makes light areas lighter and dark areas darker
🔹 Levels and Curves
Levels: Adjust shadows, midtones, and highlights via sliders
Histogram-based: lets you stretch or compress tonal range
Curves: Advanced control over tonal range using anchor points
Allows precise manipulation of brightness across different tonal zones
🔹 Hue/Saturation
Hue: Changes overall color tone
Saturation: Adjusts intensity of color
Lightness: Brightens or darkens colors
Great for color correction or creative effects
🔹 Black & White and Color Balance
