Project Preparation
Participate in project kick-off meetings with business and IT stakeholders.
Understand project scope, timelines, deliverables, and business goals.
Define roles and responsibilities within the PP/QM work stream.
Support project planning and effort estimation for the PP and QM tracks.
Business Blueprint / Explore Phase
Gather requirements for production planning and quality management processes.
Document As-Is and To-Be processes using tools like SAP SOLMON
Identify gaps between standard SAP functionality and client requirements.
Create Business Process Master List (BPML), Process Flows, and Blueprint
Documents.
Finalize functional scope, reporting needs, and key business KPIs.
Realization Phase
SAP PP Responsibilities:
Configure core PP elements:
o Material Master, BOM, Work Center, Routings
o Production Versions, MRP, Demand Management
o Planning strategies (MTS, MTO), Scheduling, Capacity Planning
o Shop floor control: order creation, release, confirmation, settlement
Support integration with MM, SD, PM, and CO modules.
SAP QM Responsibilities:
Configure key QM components:
Inspection Types, Inspection Plans, Master Inspection Characteristics (MICs)
Sampling Procedures, Quality Info Records
In-process, GR, and delivery inspections
Quality Notifications (Defects, Audit, Complaints), Usage Decisions
Ensure proper QM integration with MM (GR inspection), PP (in-process), and SD
(delivery inspection).
Prepare and validate functional specification documents for custom developments,
reports, enhancements, and workflows.
Conduct unit testing, prepare test scripts, and support technical team during
development.
Testing Phase
Coordinate and conduct:
Unit Testing (UT)
Integration Testing (IT)
User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
Prepare and maintain test scripts and test data.
Support defect logging and resolution in collaboration with technical and business
teams.
Ensure end-to-end process testing across modules.
Data Migration
Identify and validate PP and QM master data and transactional data for migration.
Support data extraction, cleansing, and loading using LSMW, BAPIs, or SAP Data
Services.
Perform mock loads, reconciliation, and validation with business users.
Training & Documentation
Prepare user manuals, training materials, and SOPs.
Deliver end-user training sessions for key users and plant operations staff.
Assist in setting up role-based authorizations with the security team.
Go-Live & Hyper care
Support cutover activities including final master data loads, production order
transfers, inspection setup, etc.
Provide on-site or remote go-live support for production planning and quality
processes.
Monitor initial transactions, resolve user issues quickly, and ensure smooth
stabilization.
Track issues in hyper care phase, hand over to support team with proper
documentation.
