3. Problem Definition
3.1 List important local issues faced by
The primary problem being faced by gamers and e-sports athletes from all strata
around the world is not having access to necessary and proper resources to
improve their gameplay.
Polishing up of one’s gameplay is out of personal interest for some but it can
strongly influence the livelihood of professional e-sports athletes. Insights of how
the player plays in a structured format provides little to no help. Understanding
such data can be difficult for some people.
Main Issues:
1. Indirect loss of livelihood
2. Lack of proper analytical data
3. Inessential, raw data
4. Difficulty understanding such data
One of the most critical problems is the loss of livelihood amongst e-sports
athletes who hold great potential but are unable to excel due to improper
training. So, this issue and the subproblems related to it matter greatly.
Players being unable to improve their gameplay is not just limited to professional
players but to casual players as well who cannot afford to hire a trainer to help
them ameliorate their gameplay. Troubleshooting one’s inaccuracies can open up
new opportunities and give one new perspective to look at things which can
indirectly widen the thinking capacity of the person.

4. The Users
4.1 Who are the users and how are they affected by the problem?
• Casual Gamers
• Professional E-Sports Athletes
• Anyone using games to widen their perspective of looking at things.
Inability to improve their gameplay using existing resources and raw structural
data.
4.2 What have you actually observed about the users and how the problem affects
them?
Players try to improve their gameplay using methods that are, mostly, just
imitation of a specific successful game style by a different player/group of players.
Players do not adequately troubleshoot their gameplay which leads to them being
unable to understand what is actually wrong with how they play. It is the
fundamentals that must be improved and not the overlying factors.
Casual players and e-sports athletes are highly affected by this problem as for the
athletes, good gameplay is a factor of utmost importance for their livelihood.
Moreover, being unable to improve leads to the players, in general, feeling
apathetic and indolent.
4.3 Record your interview questions here as well as responses from users.

5.3 Based on the priority grid, which AI solution is the best fit for your users and for
your team to create and implement?
Briefly summarize the idea for your solution in a few sentences and be sure to
identify the tool
that you will use.
The AI solution of using regression to analyse the gameplay of a player is the best
fit for my users and for my team to create and implement. The supervised
machine learning model will collect the KD ratios of the past matches of a player
from an online source and using regression predict an expected KD that the player
would ideally achieve based on his past gameplay. The player will be instructed to
achieve a KD higher than the predicted KD which will lead to fundamental
improvement, thus encouraging the player. The tools that I will use for this AI
solution are:
Anaconda
Jupyter Notebook
Python
Visual Studio Code
Selenium library
Matplotlib library
NumPy library
Scikit-learn library

6. Design
6.1 What are the steps that users will now do using your AI solution to address the
problem?
1. The users will constantly keep track of their predicted KD and make sure to
maintain it to be as high as possible.
2. Even if the players constantly get relatively lower KDs, the model would keep
predicting a lower KD than before which will force the players to practice more.
3. They will easily check their progress using the upwards, downwards or 0-slope
trend of the regression line in the graph.

8. Prototype
8.3 What decisions or outputs will your tool generate and what further action needs to
be taken after a decision is made?
Kill-Death (KD) ratios of past Valorant matches of a player are mined from an
online source and stored in a list. A second list is then created with elements
going from 1 through the number of elements in the initial list with the KDs. A
regression line is then plotted after the model is trained using this data. Based on
this regression line, an expected KD (x) is inferred which is then displayed to the
player. The player is then instructed to obtain a KD greater than “x” in the
following match. If the player manages to get a KD higher than “x”, the model
would be retrained and a slightly higher KD would be inferred and displayed. This
would lead to a slow-paced yet gradual improvement in the player’s gameplay. If,
in case the player gets a KD lower than “x”, the retrained model would display a
lower expected KD which would be more convenient for the player to achieve.

Questions? Ideas
9.4 Refining the prototype: Based on user testing, what needs to be acted on now so
that the prototype can be used?
• Sleep time intervals between each automated function of clicking the “Show
More” button for mining the data needs to be increased to at least 2 seconds.
• List of KDs (“yax” in the program) needs to be converted into an array.
A more friendly UI can be integrated to the program for a better user experience.
It can be in the form of a website or with the help of a UI library in python.

10.1 How did you actively work with others in your team and with stakeholders?
●Along with the constant online and offline meetings, regular chat sessions were
taking place amongst the team leader and team members.
●The mentor had the project reviewed by various teachers across India to
improve in any way possible.
●All of the team members directly interacted with the stakeholders, who also
happened to be peers of the members, on discord, steam, etc.
●Stakeholders routinely provided feedback on how convenient it was to adapt to
the program and attain the required KD.

A good way to identify what you have learned is to ask yourself what surprised
you during the project. List the things that surprised you and any other thoughts
you might have on issues in your local community.

Team member name: Akarsh Jha
The primary thing that came to me as a surprise was how undemanding it even
was to create a solution that players could benefit from on a large scale.
Stakeholders could, instead of only using the solution if it were provided to them,
create one on their own. The second thing that surprised me was how with the
same resources, some players were just mediocre at the game. On the other hand,
some made their way to the top leagues and earned millions. I could discern that it
was a player’s discipline obstructing them from improving.
