REFLECTION

From the very first day of our immersion, we were warmly welcomed by our mentor into the
PESO office, which immediately made us feel comfortable despite being in a new environment. We were
introduced to Sir Christopher James Ibon, Sir Jurilie Besabella, Ma’am Luz Quiño, Ma’am Maelena
Elizabeth Pepito and our head Sir Benjamin Tibon, who all played an important role in guiding us
throughout our stay. As we were still adjusting, they patiently taught and assisted us in every task
instead of pressuring us to work quickly. Their understanding and supportive approach helped us gain
confidence and develop our skills at a comfortable pace.

Each staff member contributed to our learning in different ways. Ma’am Luz taught us how to
properly encode application forms using the computer and how to operate the photocopying machine.
Sir Jurilie patiently instructed us on how to use the typewriter, which was a new experience for us.
Meanwhile, Sir CJ and Ma’am Beth guided us on how to properly interview clients applying for an
occupational mayor’s permit, teaching us what questions to ask and how to communicate clearly and
respectfully. These hands-on experiences allowed us to better understand office procedures and the
importance of accuracy and responsibility in public service.

During the first week, only a few clients came into the office, and we still needed constant
guidance from the staff since we were not yet confident in handling tasks on our own. However, as time
passed, we gradually became more independent. We learned how to entertain and interview clients
properly without always relying on our mentors, which showed our growth and increasing confidence in
performing our duties.

Aside from work, our relationship within the office also grew stronger. We became comfortable
joking with one another, which created a positive and friendly working environment. We even shared
lunch together with Ma’am Luz, which helped build camaraderie and mutual respect. Although our
internship lasted only 20 days, the bond we formed with the staff made our experience meaningful and
memorable.

Overall, my immersion experience taught me valuable lessons that I will carry with me in the
future. I learned the importance of being attentive to tasks, maintaining professionalism, being friendly,
and showing respect by greeting the staff every day. This experience not only enhanced my skills but
also shaped my attitude toward work and teamwork, making it a truly worthwhile learning opportunity.
