INTRODUCTION

• Problem Statement:
The absence of a dedicated, centralized, and secure digital platform for pet adoption and temporary care in
Bangladesh results in an inefficient, unreliable, and potentially unsafe ecosystem. Current reliance on fragmented
Facebook groups leads to lost opportunities for animals to find homes, heightened risks for adopters and caregivers
(e.g., scams, unverified parties), poor visibility of available pets or services, and lack of structured processes for
rescue listings, adoption applications, tracking, and temporary care hiring. This fragmentation hinders effective
pet welfare, exacerbates stray overpopulation issues, and prevents the growing community of pet lovers from
accessing safe, transparent, and convenient solutions for adoption, rescue reporting, and short-term pet care
needs.

• Objectives:
1. To simplify the pet adoption process: To make pet adoption easy, fast, and hassle-free through an
online system.
2. To manage pet information digitally: To store and manage all pet-related information in a digital
platform.
3. To reduce manual paperwork: To minimize paperwork by using an automated digital system.
4. To provide a user-friendly system: To develop an easy-to-use system for all types of users.

• Scope:
1. User Registration & Login: Users can create an account and securely log in to the system.
2. View Available Pets: Users can browse the list of pets available for adoption.
3. Adoption Request: Users can send requests to adopt a selected pet.
4. Pet Management: Admins can add, update, and delete pet details.
5. Adoption Control: Admins can view and manage all adoption requests.

BACKGROUND
• Existing System Analysis :
1. The current pet care system in Bangladesh mainly depends on informal social media groups.
2. These platforms lack proper search, verification, and standard application processes.
3. International platforms exist but are not suitable for the local context of Bangladesh.
4. There is no Dhaka-specific location filtering for pet adoption and care.
5. Digital payment support like bKash or Nagad is not available.
6. Local temporary caregivers such as sitters and walkers are mostly excluded.

• Supporting Literatures :
1. SDLC Framework: The project follows the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to ensure systematic
planning, development, testing, and deployment of the system.
2. Data Security and Privacy: The system ensures user data security and privacy by using proper access
control and secure data management techniques.
3. Digitalization of Pet Care Services: The project focuses on digitalizing pet adoption and care services
to reduce manual work and improve efficiency.

SYSTEM ANALYSIS & DESIGN
• Technology & Tools :
To ensure the PetHome platform is scalable and responsive, the following ”MERN” stack and development tools
were selected:

1. Frontend: [Link] for building a dynamic, component-based user interface.

2. Backend: [Link] and [Link] to handle server-side logic and API requests.
3. Database: MongoDB (NoSQL) to store flexible pet profiles and user data.
4. Authentication: Firebase or JWT for secure user login and verification.
5. Maps API: Google Maps API for tracking rescue locations within Dhaka.

• Model & Diagram :

1. Model:
This project follows the Agile Methodology, which allows for iterative development and frequent feedback to
ensure the system meets user needs effectively.

Pros of Agile:
1. Flexibility: It allows changes in requirements even at a later stage of development.
2. Customer Satisfaction: Continuous delivery of functional software ensures higher satisfaction.
3. High Quality: Frequent testing and reviews during each sprint improve the overall quality.

Cons of Agile:
1. Scope Creep: Without a clear end goal, the project can sometimes expand beyond its original scope.
2. Resource Intensive: It requires constant involvement from developers and stakeholders.
3. Documentation: Due to the focus on working software, documentation can sometimes be neglected.

Reason for Choosing Agile in this Project:

1. Since pet adoption and care requirements in Bangladesh can evolve, Agile allows us to adapt to user feedback
quickly.
2. It helps in building the system in small ”Sprints,” making it easier to manage features like bKash/Nagad
integration and location filtering step-by-step.
3. Regular testing ensures that a secure and bug-free platform is delivered for pet lovers.

3
• SDLC Phases: The project follows these key stages of the Software Development Life Cycle to ensure a
high-quality system:

1. Requirements Determination: Identifying the core needs of pet owners and caregivers in Bangladesh to
define what the system must do.

2. Initial Requirements Determination: Gathering preliminary data through informal groups and user feedback
to start the project scope.
3. Feasibility Analysis: Evaluating if the project is technically and financially possible, including the integration
of local payment methods like bKash.

4. System Requirements Specification (SRS): Creating a detailed document that lists all software and hard-
ware requirements for the PetHome platform.
5. Hardware Study: Determining the necessary server capacity, mobile device compatibility, and internet re-
quirements for the users.

CONCLUSION
• The PetHome project was developed to address the critical lack of a centralized, secure, and user-friendly platform
for pet adoption and care in Bangladesh. By moving away from the chaotic nature of social media groups and
creating a dedicated web-based ecosystem, this project successfully bridges the gap between pet seekers, rescuers,
and caregivers.

• Through the implementation of the MERN stack and a disciplined SDLC approach, the platform provides a
transparent process for pet adoption, a reliable marketplace for pet sitting, and an efficient way to report
rescues. Ultimately, PetHome is more than just a software project; it is a digital solution aimed at improving
animal welfare and fostering a more compassionate pet-owning community in urban areas like Dhaka.

• Limitations:
Every system has its constraints during the initial development phase. The current version of the Pet Home
Management System has the following limitations:

1. Requires Internet Connection: The system is built as an online platform; therefore, users must have a
stable internet connection to access the database and manage records.
2. Limited Features in Initial Version: As this is the foundational release, it focuses primarily on core
management tasks. Some advanced modules are not yet integrated.
3. Depends on Technical Infrastructure: Performance is highly dependent on server health and hosting
infrastructure. Any server-level failure may temporarily disrupt service.

• Future Enhancements:
To make the system more robust and user-friendly, the following features are planned for future updates:

1. Online Payment System: Integration of secure payment gateways (like Stripe or local providers) for
adoption fees or donations.
2. Mobile Application: Developing dedicated Android and iOS apps to provide a more seamless experience
for users.
3. Pet Health Record System: A specialized module to track vaccination schedules, medical histories, and
digital prescriptions.
4. Live Chat with Admin: Real-time communication for instant support and emergency assistance.
