▪ Understand the importance of formatting and layout in digital documents.

Warm-Up Questions
SAY TO STUDENTS: · Have you ever received an invitation to a birthday or school event?
ASK STUDENTS: What kind of information do we find on an invitation card?
Answers will vary. Possible answers: The name of the event, date, time, place, etc….
Overview/Steps to follow:
Introduction (5 mins):
Introduce MS Word and its uses.
Explain what text formatting means (bold, italic, font colour, size, alignment).
Discuss how formatting makes a document more attractive and easy to read.
Technical Activity (15 mins):
. Present the problem: Ali wants to invite his friends to his birthday party but can’t visit everyone. Let’s help
him create a nice invitation card in Word!
. Demonstrate:
How to write a heading (e.g., “You’re Invited!”).
How to add details like date, time, and place.
How to format text using colour, bold, and alignment.
How to insert a background image or colour in Word.
· Instruct students to create their own invitation card for the School Annual Function using their own wording
and formatting choices.
Review (2 mins):
Ask questions such as:
What tools did we use to change the text style?
Why is formatting important?
Closure (8 mins):
· Ask students to create another invitation card — this time for their birthday party.
· Encourage creativity and neat layout.
· Praise good formatting and design choices.
Differentiation / Additional Learning Needs:
· Provide ready-to-edit templates for students who need extra help.
· Encourage faster learners to insert images or decorative borders.
