INTRODUCTION
► In public places, restrooms often remain unchecked, leading to unhygienic conditions, lack of
cleaning schedules, or non-functional utilities like soap dispensers or water taps.
► Manual monitoring is inefficient and inconsistent.
► There is a need for an automated system to monitor and report the status of public restrooms in real
time to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and user satisfaction.

OBJECTIVE
➢ This project focuses on the development of an IoT-enabled smart restroom monitoring system
designed to uphold high standards of cleanliness, operational efficiency, and user satisfaction in
public restrooms.
➢ The system will leverage a network of sensors to track critical parameters such as occupancy status,
odor intensity, and soap dispenser levels.
➢ Real-time data collected from these sensors will be transmitted to a cloud-based dashboard,
enabling facility managers to receive instant alerts and respond swiftly to maintenance needs.
➢ To further enhance hygiene and service quality, the system will incorporate a QR code-based user
feedback interface, allowing visitors to report issues and rate restroom conditions seamlessly.

LITERATURE REVIEW
➢ Our research centered on existing smart restroom solutions deployed across malls, airports, and
smart city infrastructures.
➢ We explored the integration of IoT technologies in sanitation management, with a particular
emphasis on sensor-driven monitoring and wireless data transmission.
➢ Through case study analysis, we observed that such systems significantly enhance cleanliness
standards, minimize maintenance response times, and optimize resource allocation.
➢ Commonly adopted technologies in these implementations include microcontrollers like Arduino
and NodeMCU, alongside cloud platforms such as Firebase and ThingSpeak.
➢ These insights played a pivotal role in shaping the architectural framework of our proposed system.
