Course Description:
This course deals with the biological aspects of human reproduction as this uniquely provides relevant lessons to study one system across traditional
subject boundaries to various medically assisted human reproduction procedures with the aid of the advent of science and technology. Also, topics on anatomy,
physiology, endocrinology, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology and human sexuality is brought together to provide a comprehensive view of the functioning of the
human reproductive system. Moreover, topics on the process of fertilization, fetal development, birth, birth control, infertility, reproduction disorders/diseases, the
assisted human reproduction and its kinds are included on this course to integrate wholistic understanding of human reproduction.
Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1: Discuss in-depth understanding concepts, elements, and principles of human reproduction.
CLO 2: Describe the cell cycle and how sexual reproduction passes chromosomes from parents to offspring and how chromosomal abnormalities occur.
CLO 3: Discuss the transmissions, symptoms, consequences and treatment of common sexually transmitted diseases. Discuss common methods of birth control and
infertility treatment.
CLO 4: Discuss issues relating to ethical issues related to human reproduction with consideration of legal, psychological, and sociological perspectives.
CLO 5: Display the ability to understand and execute the learning in real life situations, and in addressing important issues that will be faced in the society due to
scientific advances in reproductive biology.
