STATEMENT OF
PROBLEM
Modern transport faces issues like pedestrian accidents, overspeeding,
overloading, and excess passengers, affecting safety and efficiency.
This project proposes a smart transport system with pedestrian
detection, speed control, load monitoring, and passenger counting to
improve safety and operations.
ABSTRACT
This project introduces a smart transport system that improves road safety, vehicle
performance, and sustainability using advanced sensors. The system detects
pedestrians and stops the vehicle at crossings, automatically reduces speed near
bumps, monitors vehicle load to prevent overloading, and counts passengers to avoid
overcarrying. By integrating these features, the system enhances safety, protects
vehicles and infrastructure, and promotes efficient and responsible transport.
OBJECTIVES
·To enhance road safety through advanced sensor
technologies.
·To improve vehicle efficiency and longevity by
preventing mechanical damage.
·To provide an automated solution for smarter
and safer transport systems.
THE PROCEDURE
Planned the system and selected the required components.
Connected pedestrian, speed, load, and passenger sensors to the
microcontroller.
Installed output devices (LCD, LEDs, buzzer) for alerts and feedback.
Programmed and uploaded the code to control system operations.
Tested key functions: pedestrian detection, speed control, overload protection,
and passenger counting.
Integrated Wi-Fi/GSM for real-time monitoring and alerts.
Conducted overall system testing and installed it in a prototype vehicle for
evaluation.

STOPPING RESPONSE
The line graph clearly shows a gradual decrease in speed as the vehicle approaches a bump,
confirming that the speed governor effectively regulates velocity. This feature helps reduce
the impact on the vehicle’s suspension system, preventing unnecessary wear and tear.
Additionally, smooth speed reduction improves passenger comfort and enhances road
durability by minimizing the stress caused by sudden braking. The accuracy of this system
ensures that drivers are less likely to overspeed in areas requiring speed control, ultimately
reducing accident risks.

STOPPING RESPONSE
The bar chart demonstrates that the vehicle consistently stops when a
pedestrian is detected, highlighting the reliability of the pedestrian detection
system. This ensures improved road safety by minimizing pedestrian-related
accidents, particularly at crosswalks where jaywalking and sudden pedestrian
movements pose risks. The use of infrared, radar, or ultrasonic sensors plays a
crucial role in identifying pedestrians in various environmental conditions,
enhancing real-time vehicle response and traffic management.16
CONCLUSION
Integrating sensor technologies in transport improves safety,
efficiency, and sustainability by managing pedestrian detection,
speed control, overloading, and passenger limits. Advanced
sensors and IoT enable better vehicle monitoring and
communication, reducing accidents and improving
performance, while supporting a smarter and safer
transportation system.
