Activity Title: Awareness on Clean Toilets and Public Hygiene
Description of the Activity:
We formed a group of five students to create a short 1.5-minute awareness video on clean and
sanitized toilets in public places. Using AI tools and visuals, we highlighted the importance of

Page 6 – Activity
Date: 10th September 2025
Activity Title: Sustainable Household Planning
Description of the Activity:
I collected information from my family about our monthly household expenses and the waste we
generate. I prepared a chart showing grocery, electricity, transport, and water use. Then, I suggested
ways to reduce waste and conserve energy such as recycling plastic bottles, switching off unused
lights, and reusing water for plants.
Learning Experience:
This project helped me understand how daily habits affect the environment. I realised that even
small changes in our home can create a big difference for sustainability.
Learning Outcomes:
• Learned to analyse resource usage at home.
• Understood ways to reduce waste and save energy.
• Became aware of the importance of eco-friendly living.
Reflection:
“A sustainable future begins with responsible choices made at home.”
Project – 3: Environment Conscious Citizens

(INR)
Total Monthly Expenditure: ₹18,000 (approx.)
Step 2: Observations from Family Discussions
After discussing with parents and grandparents, it was found that most waste is generated from
food, packaging, and plastic. Electricity consumption increases during summer due to AC use, and
transportation adds to fuel usage. The family realized that most waste can be reduced through
conscious daily actions.
Step 3: Sustainable Measures for Each Category
Category Suggestions for Minimizing Waste & Resource Use
Groceries Carry cloth bags instead of plastic; buy in bulk to reduce packaging.
Fruits & Vegetables Compost peels; plan meals to avoid leftover waste.
Clothing Donate old clothes; upcycle old fabrics into cleaning cloths.
Electricity Use LED bulbs; switch off devices when not in use; avoid standby mode.
Transport Use public transport, cycling, or walking for short distances.
Cooking Gas Use pressure cookers; check for gas leaks; cook together to save energy.
Water Collect greywater from laundry for mopping or gardening; fix leaks.
Medical Buy medicines only when needed; return expired ones to pharmacy.
Entertainment Prefer local outings or nature walks; avoid single-use plastics during travel.
Step 4: Implementation Plan
1. Waste Segregation: Two bins introduced – one for biodegradable waste and one for
recyclables.
2. Composting: A small compost pit started in the backyard for kitchen waste.
3. Greywater Reuse: Wastewater from laundry reused for floor cleaning.
4. Energy Efficiency: Switched to LED lights and turned off unnecessary fans/lights.
5. Transport: Started carpooling for school and nearby travel.
6. Plastic Reduction: Switched to metal bottles and cloth bags.
7. Digital Billing: Opted for e-bills instead of printed ones.
Step 5: Review and Results After 1 Month
Category Change Observed Remarks
Electricity Reduced by 15% Due to switching to LED and mindful use.
Water Saved approx. 1,500 litres/month Through reuse and leak repair.
Groceries Reduced packaging waste By buying from local vendors.
Transport Reduced petrol use by 20% Through carpooling and walking.
Kitchen Waste 70% composted Used for home gardening.
Step 6: Conclusion
By following sustainable practices, our household became more efficient and environmentally
responsible. Waste generation was significantly reduced, electricity and water usage lowered, and
composting improved soil health. This project helped the family realize that sustainability begins at
home. Small actions collectively make a big difference in protecting the environment.
Step 7: Evidence and Documentation (for photos section)
You can attach the following photos for evidence:
Photo of waste segregation bins
Photo of compost pit or composting jar
Screenshot of e-bills or LED bulb replacement
Photo of reusable grocery bags and bottles
Photo of greywater reuse setup (like bucket collection from laundry)
