What makes science look


superior to other people?
Science is often seen as superior to other forms of knowledge
because it produces clear, measurable, and testable results that
anyone can verify. Unlike art, religion, or intuition, which depend
more on personal interpretation or belief, science follows a
universal method based on evidence and logic, so people across
different cultures can reach the same conclusions. This makes it
feel more objective and reliable. A recent example is the rapid
development of COVID-19 vaccines, where scientists used clinical
trials, data analysis, and repeated testing to prove the vaccines
were safe and effective. Because these results could be scientifically
measured and replicated worldwide, many people trusted science
more than rumors or personal opinions, reinforcing the idea that
scientific knowledge is more dependable than other ways of
knowing.
Is science really the supreme form of 5

knowledge?

Even though science is powerful, it cannot answer every type of


question, which challenges the idea that it is the “supreme” form of
knowledge. Science explains how things work physically, but it cannot
decide what is morally right, meaningful, or valuable, those questions
belong more to ethics, culture, and personal experience. For example,
recent debates about artificial intelligence show this clearly: science can
create advanced AI systems and explain how they function, but it cannot
decide whether replacing jobs with AI is fair or how much control
machines should have over human lives. Those decisions require ethical
judgement and social values, not just data. This shows that while science
gives us facts, other forms of knowledge are still necessary to guide how
we use those facts.
