Summary
In this study, I learned that sleep plays an important role in students’ studies. When
students sleep for enough hours, they perform better in exams and feel more active. The
data shows that lack of sleep can affect marks and focus. This study helped me understand
how daily habits like sleeping can change academic results.
a) Is this study descriptive or inferential? Explain your answer.
This study is inferential because it uses data from some students and then gives results
about all students. It is not just showing facts; it is also giving conclusions.
b) What variables are used in the study?
The variables used are:
1- How many hours students sleep (sleep duration)
2- Their marks or grades (academic performance)
3- Age and study time can also be other variables.
c) What level of measurement was used to get data?
1- Sleep time is at ratio level because it is measured in hours.
2- Marks or GPA are also at ratio level.
3- Stress level is at ordinal level because it can be low, medium, or high.
d) Is population defined in the article? If not, how could it be defined?
The population is college students. If it is not written in the article, we can say it means all
students who are studying in colleges or universities.
e) How the data might have been collected?
The data might have been collected through online forms or small surveys. Students were
asked about their sleep time and marks.
f) Do you agree with the conclusions given in the article?
Yes, I agree. Students who sleep well mostly get better marks. Good sleep helps to stay
fresh, remember better, and study properly.
