ABSTRACT
The project title "STUDENT MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM" is a
Libre Office Base application used to maintain
the details of the
student. It allows the administrator to enter
student’s details. This
project contains one module, student table.
Student table is used for
adding and maintaining records of their details
like Student_ID,
Class, etc. I have taken case study for the
organisation to
maintain the details in an organized way. I have
also selected table
to do this project as I mentioned above.
Introduction
The impact of computers and internet, on our
lives today is probably much more than we really
know. Getting information and quickly turning it
into a product that consumers want is an
essential key to staying in business and all of this
is done nowadays using computers and
applications or information systems. And the
information systems will continue to change
businesses and the way we live. Many corporate
leaders are using technology to manage every
aspect of their organization, from product
creation to customer service. It has brought
evolution in almost event field, it changed the
ways of teaching, administration of activities
such as e-learning, e-library and online portals
where teachers and students communicate and
sharing of information has never been better.
Student management are amongst the most
important activities within a School or any
organisation, since all other activities depend on
it. Hence implementing an information system
can be declared a significance result.
OBJECTIVES AND SCOPE OF THE
PROJECT
The main objective of Student Management
Project is to enhance and automatic the
management and maintaining the staff info
using a computerized system. It provides the
easy retrieval of staff data for an organisation
in simple manner.

At least 65 MB available disk space for a

download. After installation and deletion of
temporary installation files.

LIBREOFFICE
LibreOffice is a free and open-source office productivity
software suite developed by The Document Foundation. It is
used for creating documents, spreadsheets, presentations,
databases, and drawings. LibreOffice is widely used in
schools, offices, and organizations because it provides
powerful features without any cost.
LibreOffice consists of several applications such as Writer for
word processing, Calc for spreadsheets, Impress for
presentations, Base for database management, Draw for
diagrams, and Math for creating mathematical formulas.
These applications help users perform different types of
office-related tasks efficiently.
LibreOffice supports the OpenDocument Format (ODF) as its
default file format and can also open and save files in
Microsoft Office formats such as .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx. This
makes it compatible with other office software. It is available
for different operating systems including Windows, Linux,
and macOS.
One of the major advantages of LibreOffice is that it is secure,
regularly updated, and supported by a large community of
developers. It can be used both online and offline, making it
suitable for students and professionals. Due to its flexibility,
cost-effectiveness, and user-friendly interface, LibreOffice is
an excellent alternative to paid office software.
DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Database
A database is a structured collection of related
data that is stored and managed electronically
in a computer system. The data in a database is
usually organized in the form of tables
consisting of rows and columns, which makes it
easy to store, retrieve, update, and manipulate
information efficiently. Databases help in
reducing data redundancy, maintaining
accuracy, and ensuring data security. They are
widely used in various fields such as schools,
offices, banks, and hospitals to manage large
volumes of data in an organized manner.
Software like LibreOffice Base, MySQL, and
Microsoft Access are commonly used to create
and manage databases.
DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ( DBMS )
A Database Management System (DBMS) is a software system
that is used to create, store, manage, and retrieve data
from a database in an efficient manner. It acts as an
interface between the user and the database, allowing
users to perform operations such as inserting, updating,
deleting, and searching data easily. A DBMS ensures data
security, consistency, and reduces data redundancy by
organizing data systematically. It also allows multiple
users to access the same database at the same time
without data conflicts. Examples of DBMS include
LibreOffice Base, MySQL, Oracle, and Microsoft Access,
which are widely used in real-life applications like
student records, payroll systems, and inventory
management.
Main COMPONENTS OF A
STUDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The Student Management System will have the following
components :
1) Student Table : This Table stores
different information about the student/s
2) Form : Forms are used to add or edit
one record at a time.
3) Query : Queries are used to retrieve
outputs related to specific information or
inputs.
4) Report : Reports are the summary of
our database.
Opening LibreOffice Base
Step 1 : Open LibreOffice. Select Base Database
Step 2 : Click on Next > Finish.
Step 3 : Give the Database a name and save it in a
location as per your requirements.
Creating A Table
Step 1 : Click on create table in Design View.
STEP 2 : While creating a Table, setting a Primary Key is a
must. To do so, Right-Click on the specific field and select Set
Primary Key.
PRIMARY KEY : A Primary Key is a set of one or more fields that
uniquely identifies each record in a table. A table can have only
one primary key.
STEP 3 : Cretae a Table by giving your field names and the
suitable field types.
STEP 4 : Now, save your table.
STEP 5 : The table is created under the Tables column.
STEP 6 : Enter the required information.
STEP 7 : Preview of the Table.

CREATING A FORM
FORM : In LibreOffice Base, using Form, you can add or edit
one record at a time. It is a convinient and interactive way of
entering data, but not an appropriate tool for every data entry.
This is useful, when you work with different userd and do not
want to expose your confedential data.
Adding a New Record :
1. Click on the new record button from the Form
Navigation Toolbar.
2. Enter the required information in the blank fields.
Click on Save.
Removing a Record :
• Select the record that you want to remove. Click on
the Delete Record option from the Form Navigation
Toolbar.
