📜 Acknowledgement
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to
my Geography teacher for giving me the
opportunity to work on this project titled “Climate
and Conservation of Wildlife” and “Natural
Vegetation”. I have learned a lot while preparing
this project. I am also thankful to my parents and
friends who helped me gather useful information
and encouraged me throughout the project.
📖 Introduction
Asia, the largest continent on Earth, is known for
its diversity in geography, climate, vegetation, and
wildlife. From the icy cold regions of Siberia to the
hot deserts of Arabia, and the lush green forests
of India and Southeast Asia, Asia covers nearly all
types of ecosystems. However, due to industrial
growth, deforestation, pollution, and illegal
poaching, the natural environment is being
damaged. This project explores the climate and
wildlife conservation efforts and the importance
of natural vegetation and forest conservation in
Asia, especially in India.
Part 1: Climate and Conservation of Wildlife
🌍 i) Climate of Asia
Asia has a wide range of climates due to its vast
size and different physical features. The major
types of climate found in Asia are:
[Link] Climate
o Found in: India, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri
Lanka, Malaysia
o Characteristics: Hot and humid, heavy
rainfall, ideal for rainforests and
agriculture
[Link] Climate
o Found in: Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Iran),
parts of Central Asia
o Characteristics: Very hot during the day,
cold at night, very little rainfall
[Link] Climate
o Found in: China, Japan, Korea, parts of
northern India
o Characteristics: Moderate temperatures,
clear seasons, supports deciduous forests
[Link]/Polar Climate
o Found in: Siberia (Russia), parts of Central
Asia
o Characteristics: Very cold winters, snow
and ice, short summers
[Link] Climate
o Found in: Himalayas, Tibet
o Characteristics: Cold weather, snowfall,
temperature decreases with altitude
This variety of climates supports a wide range of
ecosystems and animal species.
🐅 ii) Animals Found in Asia
Asia has some of the most unique and
endangered animals in the world:

Rhinoceros (Kaziranga)
Sikkim, Nepal, Small, tree-living
Red Panda

King Cobra
Southeast Asia snake
Many of these animals are endangered because of
habitat loss, hunting, and climate change.
iii) How Can You Protect the Animals?
Protecting animals is everyone’s responsibility.
Here are some ways we can help:
Do not support poaching or buying items
made from animals (like ivory).
Visit wildlife sanctuaries responsibly, without
disturbing animals.
Do not litter forests or natural areas.
Educate others about the importance of
wildlife.
Plant trees to restore animal habitats.
Reduce pollution and use less plastic.
Support NGOs and wildlife charities.
Report animal abuse or illegal activities to
the authorities.
Even small steps can make a big difference in
saving our planet’s wildlife.
🐘 iv) Efforts by the Indian Government to Protect
Animals
India has taken strong steps to conserve its rich
wildlife. Some major efforts include:
[Link] Tiger (1973)
o Launched to protect the decreasing
number of tigers.
o India now has the highest number of wild
tigers in the world.
[Link] Elephant (1992)
o Protects elephants and their habitats.
[Link] Protection Act (1972)
o A law to stop hunting and trading of
endangered animals.
[Link] Parks and Sanctuaries
o India has over 100 national parks and 500
wildlife sanctuaries.
o Famous ones: Jim Corbett, Gir, Kaziranga,
Sundarbans
[Link]-development Programs
o Involves local communities in protecting
nature.
[Link] of Technology
o Camera traps, GPS collars, and drones
help track and study animals.
🌿 Part 2: Natural Vegetation
🌲 i) Vegetation Found in Asia
Asia has rich vegetation types due to its diverse
climates. Major types include:
[Link] Rainforests
o Found in: India (Western Ghats,
Northeast), Indonesia, Malaysia
o Features: Dense trees, evergreen, high
rainfall, rich biodiversity
[Link] Forests
o Found in: India, China, Korea
o Features: Trees shed leaves in dry seasons
(sal, teak, oak)
[Link] Forests (Taiga)
o Found in: Russia, Northern Asia
o Features: Pine, fir, spruce; adapted to cold
weather
[Link] Vegetation
o Found in: Arabia, Central Asia
o Features: Cacti, thorny bushes, small
leaves
[Link] Forests
o Found in: India (Sundarbans), Bangladesh
o Features: Salt-tolerant trees with roots
above water
[Link] (Steppe)
o Found in: Central Asia
o Features: Long grasses, few trees, dry
conditions
🌳 ii) Government Efforts to Conserve Forests
[Link] Conservation Act (1980)
o Prevents cutting of forests for other uses
without permission
[Link] Programs
o Planting trees on barren or unused land
[Link] Forest Management (JFM)
o Government and local villagers together
protect forests
[Link] Areas
o National Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries,
Biosphere Reserves
[Link] India Mission
o To increase forest cover and improve
biodiversity
[Link] Mahotsava
o Tree planting festival held every year in
July
These efforts help fight climate change, preserve
biodiversity, and protect water sources.
🌱 iii) How Can You Conserve Forests?
You don’t need to be a forest officer to protect
forests. You can help in many ways:
Afforestation: Plant trees at home, school, or
local parks.
Celebrate Van Mahotsava: Join tree
plantation drives every July.
Use less paper: Save trees by using digital
notes or recycled paper.
Avoid forest fires: Be careful during treks and
camping.
Join clean-up drives: Keep forests and natural
areas clean.
Reuse and recycle: Reduces the need for
cutting more trees.
Spread awareness: Tell others why forests are
important.
🧾 Conclusion
Asia’s climate, vegetation, and wildlife are among
the richest in the world. But this wealth is under
threat from human activities. Conservation is not
just the government’s job — we all must do our
part. By protecting animals, planting trees, and
spreading awareness, we can help build a greener,
safer, and more beautiful planet for all living
beings.
